<p>I&#8217;m not feeling 100% today so I&#8217;m opting for warm, soft, and snugly.  As I&#8217;m sure I have already mentioned, I have been living in these black ponte pants.  I love that they can be dressed up or worn in place of jeans in a casual ensemble.</p>
<p>I loved how <a href="http://www.academichic.com/2010/12/04/4-december-2010-batwings-and-belted-scarves/">E. belted her scarf under a loose drapy cardigan</a> the other day and decided I would give it a try.  This charcoal wrap sweater is one of my favorite winter items because it&#8217;s so warm and cozy.  But, I have always warn it tied with the sweater-tie that came with it or belted.  Because of my proportions (bigger hips and thighs than waist), it&#8217;s very hard for me to &#8220;surrender the waist.&#8221; Belting underneath the bulky cardigan allowed me to achieve the loose and snugly look, while still feeling confident in my shape.</p>
<div style="text-align: center; padding: 3px;"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/academichic/5246963640/"><img style="border: 2px solid #000000;" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5086/5246963640_c2feebd169.jpg" alt="" width="400" height="264" /></a><br />

<p>Not long after being home with a big cup of tea and a stack of papers to grade, I did took the belt and boots off and snuggled under a blanket.  When A2 got home she found my belt slung over one of the couch pillows and announced &#8220;man you really will belt anything!&#8221;   I think I&#8217;d probably like the look of belted pillows!  A.</p>

<p>Over the holiday weekend I hit the halfway mark of the 30 for 30 challenge.  I have actually managed to wear the majority of my list (25 out of 30) already, although several things I have worn over and over and others only once or twice.</p>
<p>I had very few outfit&#8217;s planned before starting the challenge, which is perhaps why I have only managed used some items once.  But, I used some of my long ride home Sunday to plan out a handful of outfits to help me through the second half of the challenge. I&#8217;m determined to use every item on the list at least once!</p>
<p>On other note: Congratulations again E! I&#8217;m so proud of you!  A.</p>

<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: left;"><strong>Endnotes:</strong></div>
<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: left;">This is another cozy outfit based around a cozy scarf.  I  saw this scarf at Banana Republic before Christmas and had to have it, mostly because of the purple and grey plaid.  It&#8217;s long and rather heavy, and has fringe along on of the long sides.  All of this made me question the addition to my wardrobe, but the warm soft fabric and perfect print and color palette convinced me (and my mom, who gave it to me) otherwise.</div>
<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: center;"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/academichic/4335157263/"><img class="aligncenter" style="border: 2px solid #000000;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2748/4335157263_5d6dd528f7.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="284" /></a><span style="font-size: 0.8em; margin-top: 0px;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/academichic/4335157263/">Scarf</a>, originally uploaded by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/academichic/">academichic</a>.</span></div>
<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: left;">I just wrapped the heavy scarf around my neck and then loosely tied the ends together.   The outfit is pretty simple and plain, with the only other exciting component being these great earrings &#8211; another Christmas gift from my mom.</div>
<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: center;"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/academichic/4335156593/"><img class="aligncenter" style="border: 2px solid #000000;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4042/4335156593_cfaaa5a426.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="241" /></a><span style="font-size: 0.8em; margin-top: 0px;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/academichic/4335156593/">Earrings</a>, originally uploaded by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/academichic/">academichic</a>.</span></div>
<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: left;">
It has been so fun this week to see how the addition of a scarf can change the look of the simplest outfit. I hope you are all enjoying scarf month as much as we are.  Don&#8217;t forget to <a href="http://www.academichic.com/2010/02/05/scarf-giveaway-1/">enter for a chance to win</a> your own <a href="http://www.tdmdesigninc.com/">Nepali Scarf by TDM Design</a>!  A.</div>

<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: left;">My sister brought this cream circle scarf to me from Ireland at the begging of December and I have been wearing it non stop ever sense! it is one of the coziest things I own and I love to throw it on when I am just lounging around the house.  I have also worn it while out and about as my winter scarf  but it wasn&#8217;t until I a paired it with this charcoal short sleeved sweater &#8211; another one of the coziest things I own &#8211; that it felt like an essential part of the ensemble.  I wore the scarf all day!</div>
<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: center;"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/academichic/4330045257/"><img class="aligncenter" style="border: 2px solid #000000;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4002/4330045257_27729c5643.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="271" /></a><span style="font-size: 0.8em; margin-top: 0px;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/academichic/4330045257/">4 January 2010 &#8211; Winter Escape</a>, originally uploaded by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/academichic/">academichic</a>.</span></div>
<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: left;">These pictures were actually taken this weekend about 30 miles outside of academichic central.  it was a beautiful day in a beautiful place and I found myself very happy to be cozy but stylish duds!  the snow covered forest at sunset made for a great backdrop, but it kind of  makes it difficult to see the many <a href="http://www.academichic.com/2009/02/08/fashion-101-how-to-combine-colors-neutrals-with-a-pop/">neutrals</a> I have layered here &#8211; cream, navy, charcoal, black and brown &#8211; but trust me they are all there, in happy coexistence.</div>
<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: center;"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/academichic/4330780640/"><img class="aligncenter" style="border: 2px solid #000000;" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4001/4330780640_43779c5479.jpg" alt="" width="324" height="284" /></a><span style="font-size: 0.8em; margin-top: 0px;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/academichic/4330780640/">Neutrals</a>, originally uploaded by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/academichic/">academichic</a>.</span></div>
<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: left;">I have to admit, while I immediately loved the feel of this cozy number, I was at first skeptical of the appearance of the circle on me.  I am not a big fan of large cowl necks and I worried that it looked like my head was being swallowed, but as it turns out i am a big fan and wouldn&#8217;t mind getting my hands on another one or two!  What are your thoughts on the circle scarf?</div>
<div style="padding: 3px; text-align: left;">A.</div>
