I’ve received several questions in the past regarding this thrifted Boden skirt. Since a couple of you just recently asked about it again, I figured I should just do a post proving any interested parties with the pertinent information.

Item: Floral and Venitian Print Wrap Skirt with Polka Dot Trim

Brand: Boden

Cost: $10 thrifted (New Boden skirts run from around $50-$100)

Product Description: Fully lined 100% cotton wrap skirt. Two button closure around waist (with approx. 10 inch overlap). Knee-length, A-line.

Review: A great skirt. I fell in love with its faux-Anthropologie look when I came across it at a thrift store in San Francisco in the summer of 2009. It washes well (and I line-dry it) and it’s lined with a second cotton layer. I believe the sizes run on the smaller side, since this is a 12R UK size, which is about a size or two larger than I would usually wear. The side tag reads: “WG164″ and below that: “832886/7″.

If you were someone who contacted me about tracking it down, I hope this information helps (particularly those numbers on the tag). If you don’t succeed in getting this particular skirt, you may be interested in checking out Boden’s existing collection, which includes some really beautiful items:

Update: Thanks to reader Brooke for pointing out that Boden has just switched to US sizes as of this year, so if you’re ordering off their US site, don’t order up. Ignore my statement about the sizing running on the small side, as this conversion from UK sizes no longer applies. Thanks, Brooke!

This outfit was designed around this gorgeous Boden skirt that I thrifted this past summer in San Francisco. It is the one patterned skirt that I chose to bring with me to Germany and I’m so glad I did. This morning, it hung there in my closet just begging to be pulled out and worn. To keep it as the outfit’s focal point, I added only navy around the skirt – tights, top, cardigan in navy and, of course,  my beloved gray wedges.

In an attempt to be more creative with my hair, I followed the wonderful video tutorial of Orchid Grey on how to do a braided thingy that wraps around your head and ends in a side-knot. (Here are some images of it when perfectly executed). I left my hair in a low side ponytail rather than in a knot because I was happy with it like that, but will have to try the knot next time.

I just discovered Orchid Grey and I’ve already bookmarked it as a new favorite. The author, Julie, has a wonderful sense of style and the most amazing hair. I want to copy both her wardrobe and her hairdos. I admit it, I have a slight case of Single White Female going on here, but I think you’ll understand if you go check out her site. S.

I’ve been packing, storing, organizing, and I’m all moved out of my condo. But not before joining A and her girlfriend A2, and E., her husband N. and their baby for a brunch party. Like A., I opted for a skirt and pretty top as the perfect brunch outfit. This skirt and lacey top combo proved a welcome break from the shorts and tanks worn while loading and packing boxes.

Tomorrow, we start our second review session on Color and this will present a two-fold challenge to me. Not only will I try out complementary or two-thirds color combinations, but I will do this while my wardrobe is in a state of nomadic chaos. The first time we embraced these color challenges, I had a perfectly stocked and color-coded wardrobe at my disposal. Now my clothes are in part with me at my fiance’s house, in part in storage at my condo., and in part at my parents’ house from where they will take off for Germany with me. So with a much more limited and chaotic wardrobe, I will attempt to review our color module for this week in ways that hopefully will not look limited nor chaotic. Stay tuned! S.
