  1. Jenn says:

My fave item from her shop is hands down the Elephant Necklace Line Drawing Cabochon Palm Wood Beads Golden Flower Charm. I *love* elephants and adore the pendent on this necklace

  2. Jenn says:

I would wear this necklace with a boat neck 3/4 sleeve black shirt, a pair of dark denim skinny jeans and my Tom’s wedges.
I think the simplicity of the outfit would let the necklace pop and be the focal piece.

  3. Carolyn Baumgarten says:

The purple bindi necklace is GORGEOUS. As a sidenote, I’m really sad to see the end of this blog. I found it on a whim, and I’ve truly enjoyed reading it for the past year or so. I know you’re all onto big things (and 2 new babies), so I wish you all the best!!

    Carolyn :)

  4. Carolyn Baumgarten says:

I have a black partially crocheted tshirt, and this necklace would stand out and look beautiful on top of it! Especially with some metallic sandals.

  5. Grace says:

Mughal Necklace Sterling Silver Vintage Indian Pendant Swarovski Crystal is my favorite. I would wear this with very casual relased tropical, and ethnic wears, especially Indian silk of cotton things for a remote and relaxed feeling from the Muogal. I

  6. Izabela says:

I love Mehendi Pearl Necklace Antiqued Brass Crystal Pearl Teal Bird. I like antiqued jeweleries and if they come with birds on it, then that’s a favorite!
I am sorry you are planning to stop posting, I am very sad about it because I checked your website everyday searching for a new article. Although, I haven’t replied very often to your posts, I enjoyed every piece of this website. I wish you all a good life with many great things to happen to you!

  7. L says:

My favorite piece would have to be the black gold darjeeling earrings. I love the way the patterns are etched onto the beads.

  8. L says:

I would wear this necklace with a plain black dress. I like pairing funkier jewelery with plainer items to let them jump out and create visual interest.

  9. Cynthia says:

Ooh. I like this one. I have tons of turquoise and red cardigans so I have a feeling I would wear this necklace like I wear my other favorite necklaces — obsessively, and with little regard to how recently I had just worn it.

  10. Cynthia says:

The thing that I like best in her shop is the bougainvillea necklace. Hot pink is one of my “power colors” I’m told and I have a couple dresses that that necklace would be perfect with.

  11. Dee says:

My favourite piece is the Silk Road Antiqued Gold Necklace. Just gorgeous!

  12. Dee says:

I would wear this with a black tank top, khaki shorts, and a pair of strappy sandals. It’s too hot to think of anything more creative :)

  13. Nina says:

Wow! I liked several of her pieces very much – particularly the Maharani Pearl & Clusters necklace and the Bougainvilla necklace which I actually bought using the AcademicChic discount. Thanks!

  14. Nina says:

The Aasman Minakari necklace is lovely. I’d probably wear it with a white boys v-neck T & shorts for a casual for a casual look or a black tank and skirt for something a bit dressier. It looks like the perfect necklace for this steamy weather!

  15. Tracey says:

I like the Mehendi Pearl Necklace Antiqued Brass Crystal Pearl Teal Bird because of its eye-catching asymmetry, but I also like the Elephant (Haathi) Cloisonne Pendant Necklace because it is so cute!

  16. Tracey says:

I have a dark denim dress I recently purchased; it needs a dramatic accessory like this.

  17. Tara says:

    love this!
Mehendi Pearl Necklace Antiqued Brass Crystal Pearl Teal Bird

  18. Allegra says:

I thought my favorite thing would be the Bollywood Jewel necklaces (I’m a sucker for that deep rich saturated color) until I saw the cloissone elephants. The little green cloisonne elephant necklace is definitely my favorite!

  19. Allegra says:

I would wear this necklace with any of my numerous blue tops; I have a turqoise shell and cardigan that it would look great with, maybe with a tan ruffled skirt. But I also really love the color of the back, and the combo of the blue and green, so I might have to mix it up and wear the pendant with the green side out with all my blue shirts!

  20. Kim says:

I love the Pale Gold and Teal Peacock Necklace!

  21. Kim says:

I think I would wear the Sky necklace with a simple black dress to let it pop. :)

  22. Cassie says:

My favorite item was hard to choose, but choosing just one it would be the Bollywood Siren Vintage Jewel Necklace (Blue).

  23. Cassie says:

I would wear the Bollywood Siren Vintage Jewel Necklace (Blue) with Jeans and a jewel toned top or my one of my solid wrap dresses!

  24. Ellie says:

I love her necklaces! If I had to choose one, it would be the White Paakhi Minakari Necklace. I lost my basic pearl pendant not too long ago, and this would be a beautiful replacement for everyday wear.

  25. Ellie says:

I’d wear this aasman minakari necklace for work with a rose-colored corduroy jacket that has a nice open neckline and a navy skirt. The colors are gorgeous!

  26. twiggers says:

I like the Bollywood Vintage necklaces. I’ll take all the colors!

  27. twiggers says:

I would wear this necklace with a simple top and jeans. Let the necklace be the focus of the outfit.

  28. Karen says:

The Mehendi Pearl Necklace is simply gorgeous. I love the small blue bird on it!

  29. Karen says:

I think the delicate nature of the pendent with its bright colors would look great with a simple plum-colored maxi dress for a summer outing and lunch in town.

  30. Ooooh, those cobalt earrings are so pretty!

  31. That necklace would first be worn with a simple white v-neck T and a maxi skirt. Then I’d remix it in to a bunch of different outfits.

  32. Rachel H. says:

LOVE the Vintage Red Rose Attar of Roses Necklace!

  33. wendy says:

I feel in love with the Mehendi Ruby Necklace Antiqued Brass Faceted Red Czech Glass Teal Bird!

  34. wendy says:

This necklace would look great with a simple grey jersey dress and flats. Like others, I’d let the necklace be the focal point. Thanks Chics! We’re going to miss you. Xoxo

  35. Rachel H. says:

I Love the Aasman Minakari Necklace too! I think it could easily dress up a casual look like a v-neck tee and maxi skirt or I’d wear it with my LBD.

  36. Tara says:

I would wear this with a black tank top, skinny jeans, and strappy teal sandals.

  37. Tr says:

I love so many of this artists work. One of my favorites is the Taj Mahal Earrings Goldplated Crystal Pearl Drop. These earrings would add a dash to any outfit.

  38. estie says:

beautiful — and beautiful shop! my favorites are probably the Zari Earrings Gold Filigree or the Bollywood Siren Vintage Jewel Necklace. thanks!

  39. Dawn K. says:

I love the Bollywood Siren Vintage Jewel necklace! A pop of color in a design that would go with everything!

  40. Dawn K. says:

I’d pair this with a denim pencil skirt, a grey tank, and some wedge sandals!

  41. sarah in philly says:

I really like the “Mehendi Ruby Necklace” – its asymmetry and red gem are so appealing.

  42. lindsay says:

My favorite item is the steampunk peacock necklace. So classy and such a great accent piece.

  43. lindsay says:

I’d wear the Aasman Minakari necklace as a subtle, unique piece with my work clothes. It’d go great with a plain t-shirt and blazer, I think.

  44. Sarah says:

I love the Copper Peach and Smoky Blue Agra Earrings. Beautiful!

  45. Kate says:

I love the vintage paisley drop mixed metals necklace. It’s all beautiful though!

  46. Denise says:

I <3 Elephant Necklace Line Drawing Cabochon Palm Wood Beads and Golden Flower Charm!

  47. Cyn says:

My favorites are the Arabesque Vintage Czech earrings (such lovely details) or the Bollywood Siren necklace. I’d just be torn between colors on that one. There are some very pretty pieces in this shop- I’ve visited before and noticed some of the items I liked previously have already sold!

  48. Becky S. says:

I think my favorite is the Purple Bindi Necklace. Although there are a lot of pieces that caught my eye!

  49. Denise says:

I’d wear it with a grey thrifted dress I have and a green sleeveless blouse that I wear over it then belt it with a leather woven belt.

  50. Jenny says:

I dig the Monsoon Mixed Metals Necklace.

  51. Becky S. says:

I love bright colors, so I would pair the Aasman Minakari Necklace with either a red or blue top and either my brown layered skirt or a pair of brown or charcoal pants. I think a brighter top would really pull out the colors of the piece.

  52. Cyn says:

I really like the Aasman Minakari necklace- blue is my favorite color and it has a bit of red too. It’s not too big but eye catching, so I’d use it as a main feature with a scoopneck tank, a cardi, and a skirt or jeans.

  53. Jenny says:

And what I like about it is that it is interesting and striking, while still simple enough to wear everyday with most any color. I’d probably wear it with my green silk blouse, trouser jeans, and peacock blue silk peep toe heels for dinner out with the spouse.

  54. Terr says:

I love the Bougainvillea Necklace. The contrast between the vibrant stone and the delicate metalwork is very striking.

  55. Terr says:

I would wear the Aasman Minakari Necklace with a dark teal dress and brown snakeskin flats.

  56. Miranda says:

The anarkali garnet necklace is fun!

  57. Reshma says:

I love the Mughal inspired collection at Minou Bazaar and esp like the Nur Jehan necklace that she has designed!

  58. Miranda says:

This necklace is really versatile. It could go great with a white button down, dark skinny jeans, a plum leather bag and sandals. It would also be great with a gray jersey wrap dress and teal suede pumps!

  59. Reshma says:

Ah! The Aasman Minakari necklace- I would wear it with a white peasant top and a gypsy skirt!

  60. Michelle says:

I really like the Vintage Indian Coin Necklace. It’s simple and would go with everything!

  61. Michelle says:

I would wear this necklace with a white t-shirt, jeans, and flats. The necklace would really add some pop to the outfit and stand out against the white t.

  62. Kat says:

I love the Pale Gold and Teal Peacock Necklace…although I love elephants, so I really appreciate the number of pieces featuring elephants — picking a fave is a tough call! Thanks for this — I’m bookmarking your shop for future holiday gift wishlists. ;-)

  63. Kat says:

I would wear this necklace with the classic combos — LBD, plain white tee/jeans/bright shoes, maybe even a red-striped shirt/khaki shorts to branch out a bit. But here’s the thing: I clearance-sale-bought a new dress with a super-funky, bright print, and I think I would try wearing this necklace with that, keeping the earrings/shoes fairly low-key. If there’s one thing you chics have taught me, it’s to experiment with pattern-mixing, and I think I might actually try the slightly-over-the-top dress with a bright, colorful, eye-catching necklace…

  64. rebecca says:

oh i love the elephant necklace!
    rwvanvoorhis at gmail dot com

  65. rebecca says:

this would look so cute with just jeans and sandals!

  66. Julia says:

I love love love long pendants, so I really like the Anarkali Garnet and Onyx necklace.

  67. Julia says:

This necklace would be perfect on a hot day like the ones we’re having now up in Montreal–pair it with a peasant top, some shorts, and a pair of wedge sandals and you’re good to go!

  68. Eleanor says:

I love the asymmetry of the Mehendi Pearl Necklace of Antiqued Brass with a Crystal Pearl and the Teal Bird. I have a pair of earrings with similar brass birds and pale teal beads that would go perfectly! I’m not a big necklace girl. But this piece looks light and eye-catching all at once!

  69. Eleanor says:

I love the diminuative size of the giveaway necklace, too. I would wear it with a black maxi dress, the halter top of which plunges down to my bra – an unusual feature in my wardrobe. I haven’t a thing to wear with it! ;) (Accessory wise…)

  70. Erica Floyd says:

I am totally in love with Layla’s Twin Sister Earrings Swarovski Crystals Matte Gold, too bad I can’t wear earring without my ears getting infected :(

  71. Catherine Kubischta says:

I love the Aasman Minakari Necklace! Since it’s such a beautiful statement on its own, I’d wear it with a simple tee shirt, like the plain light blue one I have on now. I’d throw on a paper bag skirt, and some neutral flats to go with it.

  72. Erica Floyd says:

As far as the necklace in this giveaway, it is amazing and would look awesome with my denim mini skirt and one of my many drapey tops in a neutral or maybe even blue color.

  73. Catherine Kubischta says:

Some of my favorite items in the store are Nur Jahan earrings (gorgeous!), the cute elephant pendant, and the Silver Lotus earrings. There is sooooooo much more, though!

  74. RobinT says:

I love love love the Bougainvillea Necklace Hot Pink Chalcedony, Vintage Crystal, Feather Pendant and the Mehendi Ruby Necklace Antiqued Brass Faceted Red Czech Glass Teal Bird! So unique, so beautiful!

  75. RobinT says:

My favorite is the White Mayur Peacock Earrings. They’re just gorgeous!

  77. Irene says:

I love, love, love the Bougainvillea Necklace. Beautiful.

  78. Irene says:

I would wear the Bougainvillea Necklace with my new favorite dress that has a beautiful combo of purple, orange and white.

  79. sarah says:

Other than the Aasman Minakari Necklace, my favorite piece would be the Mehendi Pearl Necklace; I like that it’s traditional and funky at the same time.

  80. sarah says:

I love the look of the enameled metal on the Aasman Minakari Necklace. I’d pair it with gold strappy sandals, a pale blue peasant top, and a grey gored skirt…the necklace would tie everything together!

  81. LaurenPhD says:

I’m coveting the new taj mahal earrings. Gorgeous!

  82. LaurenPhD says:

I’d wear the Aasman Minakari necklace with my teal jersey tunic top, jeans, and sandals. But honestly, it would go with just about anything. Love!

  83. Katherine says:

Oh wow, her designs are awesome!! I love big earrings, and I think my favorite are the Caravan Lantern Earrings (though it’s a toss-up with the Zari Gold Filigree earrings…).

  84. Laura says:

I love the Shalimar Gardens earrings and I would definitely have to get the matching necklace!

  85. Katherine says:

I am guest-teaching on a pretty limited wardrobe right now, and my “uniform” is a black top of some variation and dark jeans (luckily it’s just one day per week!). I think that necklace would dress things up nicely, and I just bought a pair of wedge sandals with a woven textile strap that almost exactly matches those colors!

  86. Laura says:

I’d probably wear the Aasman Minakari Necklace with my deep purple, navy and gold romper, my gold gladiator sandals with the turquoise beading up the front, a brown leather hobo purse, and a chunky wood bangle.

  87. Nina says:

I really want some new long necklaces, so I was sure I’d pick one of those, until I saw these:
    http://www.etsy.com/listing/50554636/vintage-cloisonne-elephant-haathi
I am addicted to buttercup yellow and these are too darling for words! I’d wear them everywhere.

  88. Nina says:

If I were to win the necklace, I’d wear it with anything! The colors are beautiful, and would complete a lot of outfits, but I’m thinking it would look great worn backwards(!) with a navy blue dress with a deep open back, and a really skinny bright yellow belt.

  89. Sara says:

I *love* Indian inspired pieces! Besides this necklace, I love the mayur (peacock) earrings in a variety of colors in her store.

  90. Sara says:

I would also wear this with a plain, black top of some kind to pop the colors in the necklace, and then a brightly colored skirt to match!

  93. Grace says:

her work is so beautiful! I’m not sure I can choose a favorite since they’re all wonderful, but I think that little elephant (haathi) cloisonne necklace is adorable and I love it!

  94. Grace says:

I’d wear this necklace with a dress…or with jeans and a tee…with anything really. With all those colors I can’t see how it wouldn’t go with almost everything. :)

  95. Passerina says:

After looking at all of her necklaces on Etsy, I think my favorite is the one you are giving away! I love the sky blue and bright red enamel.

  96. Passerina says:

I would wear this necklace with a black mini dress, red belt, olive over-the knee boots, and an olive jacket (It is cold here in San Francisco). I’d also wear my long hair up in a bun to show off the necklace!

  97. Ruth says:

I’d shape my outfit to be a very simply frame around this necklace: pair with my go-to, brown, cotton, faux wrap dress, my favorite ‘dress’ summer sandals, my seaglass earrings (a good shade of blue to not-quite-match), and one of my typically elaborate hair styles involving lots of braids and pins. I’d wear the whole thing while teaching, because I’m teaching a summer course to a group of young women from southeast Asia and I’d be curious about their reactions to the necklace.

Once I knew what my students thought, I might also use it in a much dressier version of that outfit for some of the fundraisers I have to attend in a few weeks for the students’ school.

  98. I love love love the Jaali turquoise earrings. I have a pre-WWI turquoise ring I wear at all times, and those would be the perfect match. Love the shop.

  99. Ruth says:

Oh, and from the shop, I’d LOVE to own either the Mehendhi Ruby Necklace or the ‘Honey’ earrings and necklace.

  100. I don’t often wear necklaces, but one like this I could see with a simple wrap dress (dressy) or a simple silky-cotton tee, jeans, and interesting flats. I LOVE it!

  102. Sera says:

I would wear the Sky necklace with a black dress or black turtleneck with dark wash jeans and boots.

  103. Gavin says:

The item that really caught my eye was the Elephant (Haathi) Cloisonne Pendant Necklace, Love the orange and the blue, they really compliment each other well.

  104. Gavin says:

I wouldn’t wear this but instead give it to my girlfriend for her birthday she is always looking for items like this.

  105. Sally says:

I’d get the Bougainvillea Necklace…so pretty!

What gorgeous pieces! My favorite: the Lotus Earrings (Vintage Lucite, Goldplated Flower). So elegant!

I love the Mahal (Palace) Necklace!

  119. Laura says:

  142. Judi says:

All of Meenoo’s jewelry is STUNNING!! I would buy one of everything in the shop if I could afford it. I love unusual necklaces, so my favorite piece by far is the Vintage Paisley Drop Mixed Metals Necklace…absolutely breathtaking!! 146. Sarah says:

I would love to wear the Aasman Minakari Necklace with my favorite sweater, a cream colored, open-front cardigan, plus a cream-colored tank with a ruffle detail, dark-rinse jeans, and gold ballet flats. First off: you have no idea how much I’m going to miss your blog. I’m headed to grad school in the fall, and you’ve shaped the way I plan to dress — I was even inspired to buy a yellow cardigan, and I’d never even thought of wearing yellow before reading your blog. Best wishes to all of you in the future.

And I adore the Pale Gold and Teal Peacock Necklace, which I would probably wear with the aforementioned yellow cardigan. I might have to get it just for that, actually.

  160. Rebecca says:

As for the Sky necklace, I’d probably wear it with a denim skirt and a light blue or cream v-neck, so it would stand out. I’d try to pick out the red with a red belt and shoes, to make things a bit more interesting.

  161. Larissa says:

So the earrings in the shop are gorgeous, but without pierced ears I’ll have to choose the Mehendi necklaces–lovely assymmetry! Maybe pearl? Maybe ruby?

  162. Larissa says:

As for the sky necklace, I think I’d wear it with a simple purple knit dress I’ve got…

  163. Lyd says:

I love so many of her necklaces, and I’m tempted to pierce my ears just to wear her earrings, but I think my favorite is the garnet and pearl Mahrani necklace: classic, and a little bit classical!

  164. Lyd says:

The necklace I would wear over a jewel-tone turtleneck and dark skirt in cold weather, with my grey-and-white madras sundress in this warm weather!

  165. Jenny Harrison says:

My favorite item, although it was tough to choose, is the Elephant Haathi Cloisonne pendant. I love elephants, and the detail is just beautiful.

  166. Jenny Harrison says:

As for how I would wear this necklace, probably very simply. I’ve never shaped an outfit around an accessory before (thus my looking for this blog for help) but I would probably wear it with my boyfriend jeans, a white tank, my navy cardigan and my grey suede wedges.

  167. Slauditory says:

My favorites are the Waterlily earrings. The contrasting colors are so pretty! Also, I’m super sad you guys are ceasing to blog. The lively discussion and colorful (and tasteful!) outfits are fabulous and inspirational. I tucked a blouse in because of you guys and was excited to see how much more professional-looking I was.

  168. Slauditory says:

As for this necklace, which is beautiful, I would probably wear it with my purple, blue, and various other colors paisley dress with the open, fluttery sleeves (a sort of modified dolman sleeve). That’s my “relaxed” teaching dress and it makes me feel hip and cute, like this necklace is.

  169. Keilexandra says:

My favorite piece is definitely the Mehendi Pearl Necklace, so pretty!

  170. Keilexandra says:

I would wear this necklace with a neutral sheer blouse, black skinny jeans, and colorful flats–maybe bright blue or teal to pick up on the beads.

  171. I would love to win the Vintage Black Rose Megha Necklace!

  172. Tracy says:

I really like the Bollywood Siren Vintage Jewel necklaces (blue is my fave!)

  173. Tracy says:

As for the necklace above, I would wear it with a paisley-printed dress I have that is mainly turquoise, rust and a bit of gold in color.

  174. Shan says:

I love Indian-inspired fashion, so it’s so hard to pick! I love the Mahal Earrings and matching necklace.

  175. Shan says:

And in true Academichic fashion, I would wear this necklace with a cardigan and skinny jeans on my way to the library to work on my thesis in the fall! I’m writing about Mughal India, so this necklace would be the perfect motivation to hit up my carrel. :)

  176. Sarah S says:

I like the Zari earings. I have a pair a similar shape and size in silver and I wear them all the time.

  177. Sarah S says:

I would wear this with a simple white top.

  178. Megan says:

    I love the elephant necklace!

  179. Megan says:

I have a royal blue skirt/mustard t-shirt favorite combo that this necklace would really complement

  180. Annemarie says:

I love the Mumtaaz Earrings from Meenoo’s shop. The gorgeous red ruby color is so rich and sophisticated.

  181. Annemarie says:

I would wear this necklace with a navy blue deep-scoop neck blouse, and my favorite hippie skirt, which is all shades of blue and white.

  182. Jenny says:

I’m crazy about ALL the earrings in her shop but the ones that totally blew me away were the “White Mayur (Peacock) Earrings Opal White Czech Glass Silver Charm”. They are amazing!

  183. Jenny says:

This necklace has such a feel-good look to it. I’d wear it with a comfy pair of brown linen trousers and a white cotton boyfriend shirt. I think the necklace would give the outfit a bit of oomph!

  184. Karma says:

I love so many of her pieces, but the blue and gold ones are really popping out for me.

My favorites right now are the Jodhpur Earrings. Beautiful.

  185. Karma says:

This necklace is beautiful and eyecatching, but petite… I would wear it with a 3/4 sleeve turquoise cardigan with a black scoop neck top underneath. Colorful shoes would pull it all together!

  186. Gienah Ghurab says:

I like the Ruby Gold Chandelier Dil Se Earrings, Jasmine Gold Crystal Pearl Earrings and the Monsoon Mixed Metals Necklace.

    Lovely!

I love the silk road antiqued gold necklace. I have a soft spot for elephants!

  188. Kristin says:

I would wear this with Jeans and a nice top. Laid back.

I love the Vasanti Matte Goldplated Paisley Necklace. So pretty!

I love the Anarkali Garnet and Onyx Necklace!

  191. firefly says:

I would also wear that necklace with a black shirt and a simple khaki skirt. :)

  192. Joanna says:

I really like the “Maharani pearl and garnet clusters necklace”, as well as the “Neelam capri blue lace earrings vintage lucite crystals”.

  193. Joanna says:

I’d wear the necklace with my white sleeveless linen blouse and a long flowing blue or purple skirt.

  194. Laura says:

I just love the pale gold and peacock necklace. So stately. :-)

  195. Kavita says:

I would wear the Aasman Minakari Necklace with a peacock blue sari and hair flowing on a lovely summer evening :)
