E.’s 30 for 30 Recap

December 15th, 2010 § 19 comments

Well, I did it. I made 30 outfits from 30 items of clothing. I’d like to thank my tights and scarves collections. Without them this would have been a far less interesting experience.

(You can see all of my 30 for 30 posts in the 30 for 30 by E. category.)

Besides the super dramatic weather swings, this was actually a really big time of the academic year for me to take on a wardrobe challenge. When I started I was preparing to take my major field comprehensive exam. I took my exam in outfit #9 and defended in outfit #19. But having a limited wardrobe to choose from really allowed me to focus on the tasks at hand while still maintaining a creative outlet. Plus, I like that I can look at those outfits and still feel a bit of the accomplishment and relief that marked each of those days. I think my favorite looks overall are 8, 24, and 28. Do you have any favorites?

I love 4, 8, 11, and 27! Something about 27 is just really amazing, but I can’t put my finger on it.

  2. Jess says:

Far and away 28. I actually wore a very similar version this past Monday to work, and received a deluge of comments/compliments about it! (If you really want to see it, I’ve linked my blog above.) You’re a style maven, E. Congratulations on completing 30 for 30!

  3. Mrs. J says:

I love 4– I can’t get enough of that color combo, very cool; 27– the tights + socks + boots are superb adn 28– how can I not love those tights over tights?!? I’m planning to try that for a party I’m going to. :D

Btw, what color are those brown boots? Cognac?

    Love this site!

  5. Jessie says:

I might be in the minority here, but I kind of wish you found more ways to toss in the crazy shirt from #6! I love that thing. As you said, the colors have this possibility of being obnoxious, but at the same time I find myself very drawn to it.

Other than that piece, I have to say I loved 4 because of that color combo and great top. And 11 has another good color combo!

  6. Brittney says:

Okay, seriously, I am loving all these looks! Sooooo great. The pops of yellow, blue, stripes, whatevah. Bravo.
Oh, and, hi. My name’s Brittney. You guys don’t even know who I am, but I’m just a girl who started my own little modest fashion blog over at http://adayinlifetoo.blogspot.com It’s not even 2 weeks old yet, but there’s a guaranteed post every day. (I can only promise quantity, not quality here, people.) I’d love it if you stopped by and gave me your thoughts. C’mon. Everybody’s doing it. Like, you know. My mom stopped by…once…I think…

@Jessie – I actually had a couple more ideas for that tunic, but never quite got around to it. For you, I will wear it again before I leave for the holidays :)

  19. [...] this outfit on my own. I really should have. After all, both this tunic and cardigan were in my 30 for 30 capsule wardrobe. Thankfully, the one-that-got-away was reeled back in once I looked at my wardrobe [...]
