  • Cardigan: Target
  • Teal sweater: The Limited
  • Belt: thrifted
  • Skirt: old strapless dress from Wet Seal, refashioned into a skirt
  • Tights (2 pairs!): Target
  • Shoes: Target

End Notes:

Folks, I think I’m out of practice putting together outfits that are not from my 30 for 30 selection. I knew I wanted to wear this skirt today, since I missed full skirts during the 30 for 30, but I had the darndest time figuring out what I wanted to do up top. I ended up layering two sweaters, and tucked in the longish striped sweater.

I think I like the end results. I mean, with the full skirt and striped cardigan I kind of feel like a nerdy ballet dancer…but I mean that in the best possible way.

I would really like to get a couple of full, winter or fall weight skirts in one or two of my usual colors (mustard, olive, navy, etc.). Bonus points if they have pockets. Does anyone have any recommendations for where I could find something like that?

I may have to use this as inspiration. I picked up a full skirt with elastic waist and pockets in a lovely dark teal off the clearance rack at Anthropologie and have no idea how to wear it! It’s a heavier cotton weight with a cotton underlayer that I could see working in winter with tights and lovely Midwest summers/falls without.

And, by the way, they have a similar corduroy version online now in a lovely mustard color – the Field skirt: http://tinyurl.com/24qo39n

I find black on black outfits betuaiful, but nothing brings out a little bit of like some bright mint green and pink underneath ;)As to wearing skirt in 20 below, I find it warmer than slacks as long as I wear wool pantyhose and stockings :)

Lovely as usual. :) I’ve been meaning to ask you, where did you get those faaisnttc wintery high heeled boots? If you don’t mind sharing.XoX Sandy

Thanks for your answer. You’re right, the curls relaly make the hairdo, but you need to have a good cut to work them in. My problem is that I’m relaly lazy to do anything with my hair, but I’ve thought that if the cut was good I might be more inspired to do something with it. :)

I love how you styled this skirt. I don’t usually wear skirts in the winter, too cold. But you look so great in this outfit, I may have to give this look a try. You look pretty warm and toasty.

I thought of the Anthro skirt too.

    There’s this from JCrew

maybe it’ll go on sale soon.

  4. Yup, I thought of that anthro skirt, too (which I’ve been wanting FOREVER!).

Love this look on you–it’s been a while since we’ve seen you in this silhouette!

love that simple yet quite elegant shape on you =)))
I find the best (and almost with the best pocket functional pockets) at thrift+consignment stores the best. do keep us posted on your skirt hunt!

  7. [...] from a sweet friend and my mother-in-law? Yup, the Field Skirt from Anthropologie…in gold! Many of you suggested this skirt when I was dreaming of winter-weight full skirts in December, and I have to say, you were right. [...]
