Ever since this summer I’ve been eying November with a generous degree of trepidation. My major field comprehensive exam, my oral defense, a draft of my prospectus, a pile of paper grading, and oh, Thanksgiving, all fall within the next few weeks. So why, when Kendi announced that she was inviting folks to play along with another round of 30 for 30, did I jump at the chance? Because, as my black and white week underscored, I do some of my best work under pressure and I seem to find limited options to be creatively liberating. So while you may not be hearing too much from me textually over the coming weeks — unless you want to read notes on avant-garde theory, the culture wars, and/or material feminism — there will be remixing aplenty.

I will save some of the rationale behind my choices for later, but because this is how my mind works, here’s that information broken down in two different graphic configurations:
What colors (minus shoes) are we working with:
How might we categorize the breakdown between basics and pieces-of-interest:
Okay, all 337 fellow 30-for-30ers. Let’s go!
— UPDATE —
Edited to get rid of one pair of pants that I was using as a safety blanket and to add in a plaid shirt that I thrifted but have only worn once or twice. Might as well go all in.

Interesting challenge! I don’t think it would work well for me because unlike you I’m not so good under pressure. I’m sure you’ll come up with some amazing outfits!

I love your graphics!! Best of luck, E!
I love the way you organized your clothes and think it’s an awesome way to put together outfits! Best of luck with the 30for30 and for the record, I’d love to hear about culture wars and material feminism.
I like how you organized it with the colors and clothes.
Oh, I like the way you’ve broken this down. I’ve been leaning on a couple of academic fashion bloggers with a mathematical bent to come up with a tried and true formula for me.
Ooooh, I LOVE this idea. It is very timely too. I am going to be away from home to do some work in my PhD lab for about a month in December-January. And I have been thinking about how to organise my wardrobe for that period. The 30 for 30 idea is perfect for that. I might cut the number of clothing items down a little as I need to put everything in a single bag/suitcase.
BTW, this is my first here although I have lurked around for almost a year now. I want to say that I really appreciate this blog and thank you all for putting in the energy to keep it going. E. I am a great fan of your mustard and blue/navy combination. I love that mustard shade but I have a hard time finding it in stores.
