Firs, a side note: taking pictures of this outfit yesterday was like a comedy of errors. We have been getting some serious thunderstorms in Academichic Central and so I had to take my pictures on my covered deck where I was out of the rain but not the wind. My dog, Camp, hates thunderstorms and becomes extremely needy during them so, sorry for the strange cropping and the puppy interruptions.
Today I am dressing my butt, my backside, my bottom, my ass! I used to hate this entire region of my body – until very recently actually. It’s large and makes jean shopping impossible. But, thanks to a good friend I have recently come to appreciate my butt, and particularly the way it looks in pencil skirts. It’s still a struggle to say that I love it (it would be a lie if I didn’t tell you that I often wish it were smaller, tighter, firmer) but I’m learning to love it.

You look fab and you should absolutely love your ass! It’s enviable!
Agree–very nice ass…not to be too pervy but I’m way too feminine and adorable for that to be skeevy. (It’s like being checked out by an adorable anime puppy.) Great outfit.
Camp!!! I miss Camp! S.
Yep, you make pencil skirts look GOOOD.
Way to flaunt your asset — a concept I’m still struggling with. Thanks for the inspiration!
Looking great! I am also blessed with a huge butt :) I have a kind of random question for you.. I am just graduating with my master’s and entering the workforce, is a pencil skirt (fitting as you have it) appropriate for work? I don’t know if I’m just conditioned to think curvy = sexy = inappropriate for work, instead of curvy = natural = me .. but I have a fab pencil skirt that I love to wear out, but am afraid to wear in a work environment since it hugs my bum (just like yours!) Sorry but I don’t have any professional women around me that I know well enough to ask about my butts :)
This is a great outfit. Love the monochromatic look. Ann Taylor Loft has been having some great sales lately! I picked up a sweater and a cute t shirt for $20 a few weeks ago. Bargain!
you’re like a body double for Christina Hendricks in that pencil skirt. And she was recently named sexiest woman on the planet or something like that. Awesome assett to flaunt!
This is a fantastic outfit, and you look great. I agree–Christina Hendricks should be a role model for all of us large-assed and proud ladies. Her’s NEVER looks bad, but I bet she has a heck of a time finding jeans.
You look awesome! Hmm, I have problems finding jeans too because when the bum fits the waist doesn’t. I wonder if that means I will look good in pencil skirts too?
It’s still a struggle to say that I love it
I don’t know why you don’t fully love that ass… it looks f.a.b.u.l.o.u.s.
You look great! and your pup is so cute, what a sweetheart.
You look amazing in this outfit! That bottom is something to be proud of my dear! As someone who has thought about butt padding before, having a great derriere is a good thing. Not just anyone can make a pencil skirt look that good.
PS Your dog Camp is so cute, I love him sneaking into that last pic.
My hourglass figure is based on a serious round booty as well – it’s so fun to see other nice ones out there being celebrated!
I sooo hear ya on the jeans though – it’s one reason I have very few pairs compared to what I think most ladies own. My perfect jeans wouldn’t gap at the waist, pull or sausage-case the butt or thighs, and come in a petite length (yet not too short!). Hard to find.
I don’t know if I’ve ever commented on the jeans issue, but there are some Levi’s pants which fit well if you’ve got a great butt, hips and a smaller waist (so there’s no need for a belt cause the pants are like 2 sizes too large at the waist if they fit around the hips…).
@A: You always look great, especially in skirts like these. :o)
@ Laura, I am a lawyer with an hourglass figure and have no hesitation in wearing pencil skirts. I think a bit of under-stated sexiness can be an absolute positive in the business world. I am slightly reserved by nature so anything that makes me feel a bit sassy and ‘me’ also makes me feel confident. I think clothes can be useful that way.
Beautiful outfit and I love the shoes! As a big-bummed gal too I say its something to be proud of.
Now that is something to be PROUD of
Awesome ass. That skirt is a great fit on you.
Beautiful dog.
I love this look and your butt looks fantastic! I distinctly remember the day that I first started loving my (slightly too-big) ass – my super skinny friend and I had gone jeans shopping and, although it took me many many pairs that wouldn’t zip up, once I found a pair that actually fit, she could not stop talking about how envious she was that I had a butt that looked great in jeans!
You look fanstastic! Yay for pencil skirts. So glad you’re learning to love your booty.
That is one fabulous rear end, my dear, and you give pencil skirts a reason for being. I’ve always stayed away from them–going for A-lines and the like, but I may have to give them another go! Thanks!
You (and your bum) look terrific. I have some of the same troubles. A pencil skirt really is one of the best garments to show off a round ass.
embrace the curves
You have a wonderful figure, and I’m so glad that you’re learning to love a wonderful part of your body!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this skirt! I was called “bubble butt” in high school so I think this might just do the trick… did you buy it recently? If so, can you link me to it on the website? Want! :)
