Cardigan Detail, originally uploaded by academichic.I’ll also say something about tights here, since the weather may not cooperate with tights week (not that I am complaining by any means!!). Reader DJ asked how I managed to wear my denim skirt over tights with out the skirt riding up. I often layer my denim and corduroy over tights and I never wear a slip. Unfortunately, my only advice is to test it out. I have found that some tights/skirt combinations work well, while others don’t at all. These grey tights seem to work under everything and I think it is their medium texture – that is, they are not too smooth and shiny but also are not as textured as say my sweater tights.

Very elegant take on blue and brown! I prevent “ride up” with static guard or by rubbing a dryer sheet on my legs.
The whole outfit exudes sophisticated chic. And A, I REALLY love that necklace. Every time it makes an appearance, I swoon.
I really like how comfy yet dressed up you look int he first picture. :) Also, I think that necklace is the perfect cherry on top of your cute cute outfit!
i kept looking at that first picture and thinking, “hmmm… something is different…” and it bothered me until you mentioned belting… no belt! so proud :) it looks great on you, you are so slim you don’t even need one! also, this color palette looks amazing with your skin and hair.
i don’t have many problems with tights and skirts/dresses unless the skirt/dress is a light fabric or jersey. the lighter the fabric = the more hellacious the pull for me.
my slightly weird way to keep skirts in place over tights–if the skirt is bulky enough (like a denim or corduroy), I’ll hike the top of the tights up above the skirt, then fold them over about an inch to keep the skirt exactly where it should be!
This is so lovely!
