A.’s Scarf Storage, originally uploaded by academichic. As promised, here is how I usually store my scarves. I say usually, because in all honesty, many often end up on the coat rack, a shelf in the closet, the top of my dresser, over the back of a chair, or on my bedroom floor. I keep 10 – 15 scarves on this fabulous scarf hanger and the rest in a basket.
Scarf Hanger, originally uploaded by academichic. My sister gave me this hanger for my birthday one year and it has proved to be one of the most practical and well used gifts I have ever received. I hang it in the closet alongside my other hanging clothes. You can find a similar one at organize.com. Personally, I wish I had one, or even two, more.

I keep the rest of my scarves in a basket I purchased at Target. This works well for the scarves that are either too small, or too bulky, or too circular for the hanger. I have to admit, you can often find scarves cascading out of the basket, which I store on the top shelf in my closet, but I actually love to see the scarf waterfall when I open my closet door.
How do you store your scarves? A.

I store my scarves in the pockets of a transparent, over the door shoe organizer.
I JUST did an accessory organization post – I’ve got a cheapie version of your scarf hanger, A! http://www.alreadypretty.com/2010/02/accessory-organization-on-cheap.html
I recently bought a couple of canvas boxes from The Container Store (seen here http://www.containerstore.com/shop/closet/storageBoxes?productId=10019531) and keep my scarves in them on the shelves of my closet. I like how they’re closed so I can cover up my unorganized mess inside.
I have an iron bedstead that belonged to my great-grandmother. I recently tied all of my long scarves (using the euro-loop) along the feet end of the frame. They are easy to see and look quite nice on display. I was worried they would get tangled up in the comforter but so far that hasn’t been a problem.
Sadly, I store my scarves in a big messy pile (which often devolves into a knot) near my closet. I really need to find a better method to store them. Those scarf hangers look like a great idea!
Ikea has a larger hanger for scarves.I have one I keep my winter scarves in.

I store in 2 hat boxes–one for square scarves and one for long rectangular ones. I like to fold them so they don’t wrinkle too much. The hat boxes are actually two boxes from Pajamagram gifts I recieved–so they are semi-transparent netted round boxes. I can sort of see what’s inside, but they are still boxed.
“received” ahem.
I use padded coathangers that are the full triangle. I also have a shoe/Accessory holder that i store the fine or easily snagged ones in. I love being able to see them!
I also use a basket on the top shelf of my hall closet, and by basket I mean cheap Ikea fabric storage box.
Brilliant! Totally want one of those hangers!
I just fold them because, well, I only have 5. Haha. I know, I know, gotta get me more.
that’s a great idea!! I live in texas so scarves are appropriate for about 2 months a year; that’d be a great way to hide them the rest of the time!
Mine are always in a hanger, and the ones I use the most or plan to use in the next few days, are in the pegs of the closet, waiting to be taken out for a ride or two
I store mine through shower curtain curtain hooks hanging from a belt rack, but I’m quickly running out of room!
I have two non slip tie hangers that I use for scarves. Each tie hanger holds 10 scarves. They hang in my closet alongside my belts. I have two or three larger pashmina type scarves that I hang on a regular hanger so they aren’t so bunched up.
[...] interchangeable (ie grey tee or cardigan for white tee, or red flats for green flats, and any of my numerous scarves) except the jeans. Once in a while I will opt for my Ann Taylor ponte pants, but more often than [...]
