aack, I love this scarf and it would be the perfect compliment to my current chambray obsession. So I’d style it with just a tunic, tights, and boots…comfy but chic for settling in to another winter day dissertating at home!

  16. Sarah P
    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:29 am

Hmmm – I already have so much purple and grey that this would work with. Probably my buttercream grey boots, purple tights, and I just might be inspired to go pick up a grey sweater dress to top off with the scarf…

  17. Tara van B.
    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:29 am

The one-sided fringe definitely needs to be highlighted–so pair it with a simple gray v-neck fine-gauge sweater and black trousers for work. Cozy for my freezing office!

  18. Monica
    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:30 am

my favorite scarves, by the way, are the cotton ones — the colors just pop and the fabric for me, like S@sha, makes me thing happy spring thoughts.

  27. Emily

  28. Emily
    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:34 am

I’d style that scarf with dark denim and a black cardigan to let the scarf shine!

  29. Jenny
    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:34 am

I think the bamboo scarves look pretty awesome. I don’t own many bamboo textiles outside of sheets, so I’m curious.

  30. Amy

  43. Rebecca
    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:46 am

I think that I would wear it with my gray or black work dresses. I wish I had a yellow/goldish dress, I’ve been pairing my purple outfits with gold jewelry and loving it and I think it might work the other way with this scarf.

  44. Rebecca
    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:46 am

  50. T.
    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:50 am

I love all their scarves, but right now I think I would prefer silk, with the hopes that warmer weather is coming soon.

I’d style it with a navy sequin-covered top, skinny jeans and thigh-high matte caramel-colored boots in a riding boot-style. Taupe nail polish. No jewelry at all. Let the sequins and the cashmere speak for themselves. SO CUTE!

I like the rosa silk scarf – dash (http://www.tdmdesigninc.com/collections/spring-summer-scarves/products/rosa-silk-chiffon-maze). I’d probably style it in a european loop, my favorite!

    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  59. angie~*
    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:56 am

i LOVE the cloe cashmere loop scarves! i’ve noticed that almost all the scarves on their site resemble indian scarves and don’t get me wrong, i love them, but living in Australia and wearing scarves like that make me feel totally indian (since i’ve got indian blood). I’m afraid i might come off as a foreigner trying to incorporate traditional indian clothes (or parts of it) into western outfits, and looking like I’m trying too hard to blend in, when I’m actually sticking out. Hmmm, maybe I’m just realllly self conscious. That’s why although I love all their scarves and have a pretty large collection of scarves myself, I’d go for the Cloe loop scarf. It doent scream India and it’s unique. I’d love to win that!

  60. Elena
    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:57 am

Lovely! I would style it with a grey A-line dress I have, green velvet blazer, green tights, and boots.

    February 5th, 2010 @ 10:58 am

love it. I am just figuring out scarves, but I would definately style it with jeans, black boots and a crisp shirt (black or white – not sure). And I’d tye it in a “european knot” only with the ends criss crossed (it’s really cute but hard to explain.

    Lisa

  67. Angela

That scarf is gorgeous! I have just started wearing and collecting scarves and love it! I would wear that scarf with a gray tee and jeans, or a nicer gray sweater and black pants to work. Or find a nice complementary color sweater to wear it with. The possibilities are endless!

  68. LegacyOfPearl

I would wrap this on a white dress to highlight the nice colors.

  69. Goannatree

  70. Mrs.M in MI

  86. Ris

    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:21 am

Hello! I would style this scarf with a white button town tunic top, black leggings and black ridding boots!
    Melanie

  88. E
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:22 am

That’s a nice scarf, is what I’d probably think if I saw it hanging in my closet after I wake up late tomorrow morning. I’d shower, brush my teeth, blow dry my hair, and wear a lycra cotton blend mid-calf black skirt that I bought some time in the 90s when Caroline Kennedy was the same style (before she died, of course), and then I’ll top it with a black mock turtle neck three-quarter sleeved sweater, and some silver stud earrings, black loafers, and then I’d remove the scarf that is hanging in my closet and loop it around my neck, European-style. I’d probably look in the mirror on my way out and then decide to double up on scarves, looping another one, a soft blue-grey shade, around my neck. And finally, after a quick hot tea for breakfast and some toast, I’d walk into the cloudy city and catch a tram to the library to return my overdue books… and I’d probably be in a quiet mood, knowing that I had got up and dressed that day thinking about austerity and overdue fines and coffee stalls sold out of muffins.

My favourite scarf on the Nepali TDM Design website is the masino due scarf in “fire”.

  89. Melanie
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:22 am

As for my favorite scarf from the site, i like the Tally Cashmere Scarf in toffee or biking red.
    Thanks!
    Melanie

  90. Becky
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:25 am

There are tons of ways I would wear this sweater but the first thing that comes to mind is paired with my gray slacks and black sweater for work.

  91. PL
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:25 am

This scarf has two of my favorite colors! I would probably pair it with my navy dress and a pair of boots.

  92. Laura
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:26 am

What a gorgeous scarf! I have a thin turtle neck that it would pair wonderfully with!

  93. Sare
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:28 am

Oooh… that is beautiful. and it would look so good over my thin, dark gray sweater with jeans and my purple booties. Cuddly.

  94. PL
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:28 am

After seeing the posting on the loop scarf earlier in the week, I love the cloe cashmere loop scarf they have on their website. I especially like that you can style it different ways depending on how many times you loop it around your neck.

  95. kat
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:29 am

How adorable! I’d wear it with a plain white fitted tee, skinny jeans and black boots, with the big comfy gray sweater I always wear in the library!

  96. Courtney
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:30 am

I like the Spring/Summer line – especially the Mimi Silk Scarf.

  97. Katy
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:32 am

I know it is unoriginal but my favorite way to wear scarves is over my head on rainy or windy day. It is such a romantic look. I feel like i just stepped out of an old black and white film (even if I’m just wearing jeans).

  98. Jessica
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:34 am

This scarf has my two favorite colors!!

I would definitely want the scarf to be the highlight of the outfit — I’d likely wear it w/a grey tunic, skinny jeans, and grey boots, and my eye makeup would be grey and purple as well.

  99. Jessica
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:34 am

Hands down my favorite line is the cashmere line…so soft and cozy, you just FEEL glamourous wearing cashmere.

  100. Katy
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:35 am

My favorite scarves in the Nepali lines are hte silk scrves. My favorite is sun.

  101. Cristina Elizabeth
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:35 am

I would wear this with neutrals (probably a black skirt, white button-up, and black booties) with purple tights so that the purple in the scarf and the purple tights would really pop!

  102. Cate
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:36 am

I live in Jerusalem, so I have to wear very dark, modest clothing. So I would shamelessly steal S.’s styling and use it to brighten and lighten an otherwise very utilitarian outfit.

  103. Ris
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:37 am

I love the Hanna cashmere scarf in purple. I don’t have much purple in my wardrobe and this would be a great addition.

  104. Jasenka
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:41 am

My favorite is the cashmere line! :)

  105. Kathleen
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:42 am

Pretty scarf! I would wear this scarf with a white blouse or tee and dark wash jeans to let the scarf take center stage.

  106. Angela M.
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:42 am

Pretty scarf! I have a lot of purple in my closet, but there’s always room for more. I would wear this in a European knot, paired with an olive green top with slightly flared sleeves, skinny jeans, and my new dark brown riding boots.

  107. Pam
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:43 am

Love your site…so inspirational! Anyway, these scarves are gorgeous. I would style the one shown with either a jean skirt and tights or skinny jeans. Purple is such a great pop of color anytime of the year.

  108. Sally
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:43 am

I would style it with jeans, black boots, and my lightweight black sweater with 3/4 sleeves.

  109. Kathleen
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:43 am

  110. Kelly
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:44 am

I would style this scarf with dark jeans, thin gray sweater, and the new purple dangly earrings I got for Christmas.

  111. Miranda
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:44 am

I love the idea of this scarf with my favorite travel/flying outfit: a white tee, leopard wedges, and skinny gray cords. The purple and gray scarf in a Euro knot would add interest and be useful — planes are always so cold!

  112. Sally
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:45 am

My favorite Nepali scarves are definitely the cashmere ones!

  113. Cristina Elizabeth
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:45 am

Ahh, their scarves are so luscious! I am obsessed with tie-dye (I love the thrill of doing tie-dye myself, the moment when you rinse something out and see the design/colors is magical!). The Sarah Crinkle-Darcy scarf is amazing, cashmere/silk, so luxurious!

  114. Ecochic
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:47 am

beautiful scarf! i would style this beauty with my brown tunic dress and grey leggings, and a skinny belt to hold her down and show off the patterning.

  115. Kelly
    February 5th, 2010 @ 11:48 am

The scarf line I like most is Masino Due. I’ve got my eye on Masino Due-”Sun” in golden poppy/fuschia. I would take it to the beach and wear it while drinking a margarita–I’m wishing myself away from the blizzard hitting the East Coast today!

There is nothing more sastifying than the ability of a scarf to make a sparse wardrobe versatile and chic– the soft purple reminds one of royalty and the gray makes it ordinary to wear with the thrift store black suits, dresses, and jeans of a student intern (me!).

  131. minerrva
    February 5th, 2010 @ 12:03 pm

light-weight cashmere–what a great investment piece that would work for 3 seasons out of four!

right now I would pair it with my slim black motorcycle jacket and dark wash jeans; and in spring with my gray twill skirt and mustard canvas jacket…dreaming

  132. minerrva

I’d style this one with a classic white shirt, and a blazer in gray which would make the purple stripes “pop” and also balance out the funky style of the scarf with a little bit of prep. I’d also wear my large hoop earrings with freshwater pearls dangling from them. For the bottom, probably a denim pencil skirt and some booties or skinny jeans and some cowboy boots!

I love the scrunchy design, I think I’ve seen it on one of you ladies before? I also love the bright red woven design that comes up on their homepage, but I didn’t spot it anywhere else. It’s the first one in the slideshow, I kept refreshing the page to look at it again. Le sigh.

  201. A.B.
    February 5th, 2010 @ 2:25 pm

I immediately thought of pairing it with a charcoal gray cardigan, jeans, and black riding boots… and most likely wearing it in the “loop-and-tie” style – my current favorite. I like the idea of having the purple in the scarf be the principal bit of color in an otherwise neutral outfit.

  202. joan

    February 5th, 2010 @ 3:41 pm

for long scarves I’ve discovered a new way to wear them–I just tie the ends in two individual knots (so there is some weight at the end). Then I just let the scarf hang around my neck (no tying or anything, just like a long vest). It stays down because of the knots–it works perfectly with those long cotton or pashmina scarves.

since I love purple and yellow, AND grey and yellow, I’d pair the scarf with a mustard yellow long sleeve scoopneck tee and brown leggings (I totally caved into the leggings as pants trend…but I live on a college campus so it’s more normal there) tucked into brown harness Fryes.

  238. Grace
    February 5th, 2010 @ 5:14 pm

I would wear that beautiful scarf tied in a European wrap (i think that is what you called it) – fold in half and then tuck the ends into the loop you have made.

  239. Grace
    February 5th, 2010 @ 5:15 pm

I looked at Nepali scarves and they are all lovely, but I think I like the Spring/Summer scarves the most.

  240. Sara
    February 5th, 2010 @ 5:16 pm

I would wear it with something navy-maybe a cardigan? Not really imaginative, but the scarf by itself is so beautiful, it hardly needs anything else.

  241. Michelle
    February 5th, 2010 @ 5:25 pm

I would style this with my boyfriend’s wool sweater, jean leggings, and slouchy over the knee boots!

  250. Clara
    February 5th, 2010 @ 7:14 pm

Beautiful scarf! Lately, I’ve been upping the color quotient in my outfits, so I’d wear the scarf, tied twice around my neck and knotted in the front, with a teal long-sleeved dress, gray tights, and tall black (flat-heeled) boots. I have a pair of black elbow-length gloves that I’d add to the mix.

    TDM’s scarves are gorgeous!

  274. Mary
    February 6th, 2010 @ 6:30 am

When the weather is as nasty and rainy/snowy as it has been this week, I’d rock the Russian grandma style and wrap it over my head, crossing it under my chin so I stay warm. It’s gotten me some funny looks but my head stays warm.

  275. Claudia
    February 6th, 2010 @ 6:33 am

I would love to win a nepali scarf! I’ve looked at the website many times, but the prices are out of my budget right now. So, thanks for the contest chance.

entry #1 styling–probably wear with jeans, grey fyre boots and a complimenatary colored sweater (first thought was teal, or pink, or maybe deep green)…will tie the scarf either in the double twisted european loop or following audi’s tutorial for a chunky wrap.

  288. Amanda
    February 6th, 2010 @ 9:38 am

entry #2-other choice from nepali-I love the chole cashmere infinity wrap, in teal and chocolate, or fuschia and gunmetal…well, any of the color combos really! thanks again for a chance.

  297. emily
    February 6th, 2010 @ 11:05 am

  298. Olivia
    February 6th, 2010 @ 11:17 am

  299. Olivia
    February 6th, 2010 @ 11:24 am

hmmm…stony creek scarf or scrunchy cashmere scarf… I could really use a good dose of fun new texture or pattern these days (ugh late winter). Both are gorgeous, but I think the scrunchy cashmere scarf would be a fun challenge to style.

  300. Peggy Wagner
    February 6th, 2010 @ 11:28 am

Glorious cashmere. I’d wear it on a snowy day like the ones hitting the north east now with dark denim jeans, and a layer or two of skinny tees–olive green, pastel pink, gray. Tied in the European loop style with a black beret.

  301. r
    February 6th, 2010 @ 11:39 am

I’d like the scarf to be the highlight of the outfit so I’d wear it with a black top, dark wash denim, and black boots.

  302. r
    February 6th, 2010 @ 11:41 am

  303. Bethanne
    February 6th, 2010 @ 1:18 pm

    The Cashmere Scarves are gorgeous!

  315. Shana C - Flutterby3
    February 6th, 2010 @ 4:44 pm

  316. Shana C - Flutterby3
    February 6th, 2010 @ 4:47 pm

I think my favorite line from the Nepali site is the bamboo collection. Living in Florida it seems like they would be light enough for the beachy weather.

  317. Katharine
    February 6th, 2010 @ 4:58 pm

My first thought was like a lot of others – I have a grey cardigan that would look nice with this. But then I thought it might be more interesting paired with a mauve top I have. And probably black trousers… maybe I’d even belt over the sweater like you Academichicas do!

  318. Katharine
    February 6th, 2010 @ 5:06 pm

Okay separate comment on their scarf lines?

  321. Bonnie
    February 6th, 2010 @ 5:50 pm

I would use this scarf to make boring workwear more exciting–I have a few ho-hum neutral outfits that could really use some cozy pizazz.

  322. nikole
    February 6th, 2010 @ 5:50 pm

and i love the silk scarf line, the colours and patterns remind me of home

  323. Bonnie

  324. Lindsay
    February 6th, 2010 @ 6:09 pm

  325. Kalee
    February 6th, 2010 @ 6:24 pm

  335. caroline

  339. Diana Veronica
    February 7th, 2010 @ 7:00 am

  340. Serena
    February 7th, 2010 @ 8:12 am

  341. Smashing Ginger
    February 7th, 2010 @ 9:41 am

I’d play up the batik look to the stripes with a empire-waisted black jersey dress that has a small pattern of purple and olive tie-dye. Add black tights and mary janes, and I’m all set!

  344. sabrina
    February 7th, 2010 @ 10:14 am

LOVE the spring summer scarves. Especially the Bambi collection. In the summer, my city is really hot in the subway station, cold in the train, hot outside, and cold again in many offices, so this would be the perfect piece to stay warmer in the oppressive AC!

  345. Jen
    February 7th, 2010 @ 11:44 am

I think I’d style it in a similar colour combo like the one A is wearing. I’d go maybe for jeans, grey sweater with a lighter grey longer tee that’s larger than the sweater. The pop of colour would be the scarf with its purplish notes.

  346. Erika
    February 7th, 2010 @ 11:44 am

Since we just were hit with two feet of snow, I can only think of winter outfits. I’d wear this scarf with my navy skinny cords, dark grey tissue turtleneck, and light mustard wool sweater.

  347. Mindi
    February 7th, 2010 @ 11:47 am

    I like the bamboo scarves.

And I want to say that I really appreciate your trending towards thrifting and towards socially-conscious and eco-conscious companies. It’s a struggle to live out one’s principles fashionably on a grad student budget, but you are providing at least some guidance in that regard (more so than those who promote buying lots of cheap clothing). Thanks.

    February 7th, 2010 @ 1:33 pm

I wear a lot of grey and jeans – my favorite classic-yet-comfy mom combo! I’d love to euro-loop this scarf with that sort of outfit to add style and punch.

    Hi Gals,

I would style the purple and grey Francie scarf with my
purple cord skirt. Black tights. Either my short black boots or my knee high boots. I would check both options in the mirror, then decide:) And a thin black open neck fitted cotton shirt, because it’s so darn warm in the classroom.

    Cheers,

I lOVE the bamboo line at Nepali by TDM! Beautiful… I’d wear every one of them!

The scarf I like the most at Nepali designs is the
Grande Cashmere Scarf in Citrus(orange). The scarf looks
amazingly warm and it’s such a cheerful color. As a side note,
the color options offered for the Cloe loop scarf do not
seem to match the blue/grey scarf pictured on Nepali’s website.

    Cheers!

This scarf would fit so perfectly with my wardrobe! First outfit: desaturated purple-gray woven wool skirt, dark aubergine top, and red shoes! :)

I LOVE the scarf featured on the homepage – I wish I could find it among the items for sale!
Second choice would be the Skinny Masino scarf in black – it would look so elegant against a black top.

I love gray and purple! I think I would wear this scarf to dress up a black t-shirt dress and gray cardigan, belted with a black skinny belt – the purple and gray scarf over the two would add a fun dash of color.

I also LOVE the Bella Checked Scarf – I’ve been looking for the perfect checked scarf for a while now, and that would be it … but even with the 20% discount it’s a bit out of my price range!

I think there could be multiple ways to wear this scarf. I think wearing it with a purple top and blue jeans would be one of the simplest ways.

Since I’m doing my clinical internship this year, I’d style the scarf with black pants, a purple shell, and a grey cardigan. Boring, sure, but allows the client to project all they want!

I’m intrigued by the bamboo scarves, must confess!

    Love this scarf!
I would style it with skinny jeans, a gray shirt or light- weight sweather and some black knee boots.
I would wrap the scarf around my neck a couple of times like S. did with her pink pashmina.

I love most of the scarves, but my favorites are the bamboo or cashmere tie-die look, especially the Sarah Crinkle Scarf – Bridgette.

These are my two all time favorite colors to wear! I absolutely love the design. I would pair this with my favorite charcoal cardigan and tie it in a messy knot in front. I’d wear my cordouroy plum skirt with tights and gray boots. :)
