All remixed except newly thrifted vest:
- Gray jersey dress – Target
- Green button down – J.Crew
- Navy vest – Cecil, thrifted at Oxfam Munich
- Sweater tights – DM
- Boots - Dillards
- Bag – Etienne Aigner, hand me down from mom
- Necklace - Beau & Stella on Etsy, gift from husband
Endnotes:
Ever since this outfit post of A.’s, I have been wanting a little cozy grandpa vest. The knit v-neck vest with the buttons down the front just looks like something my grandpa would wear so it conjures up all kinds of positive associations for me. I loved how it looked on A. with the skinnies and the long sleeved top and I wanted to experiment with other ways of wearing this item.

This has become almost like a game of Tetris to me (remember Tetris anyone?). It’s all about finding new ways of putting the same few pieces together to create a completed whole. And I love this wardrobe version of Tetris just as much as I loved the video game version back in the 90s. Today’s whole comes from layering this vest over a button down and over a dress. And apparently, Tetris is good for the brain…so by extension, is this wardrobe remixing making me smarter? S.

Ooh, I adore the grandpa sweater vest! Definitely on my list! Oh, and I totally used to play Tetris. My mom and I got totally addicted for awhile when we got our first computer (the black & green screen kind, remember those?). Anyway, I love the idea that remixed your wardrobe is like playing a game of Tetris. Perfect analogy!

I love your Tetris analogy! I own several vests, mostly to give a shape to my smock dresses (which are practically the only dresses sold here in Taipei for some reason), but your outfit has given me new ideas on how to wear them. I love your outfit and the combo of colors!

Hah! Layering IS like Tetris, especially if you’ve got a limited number of pieces. But as someone who is currently wearing socks, tall boots, longjohns, a nude cami, a long-sleeved tee, a blazer, a belt, and a scarf … sometimes using the restroom in winter can be a lot like Tetris, too!

I want that vest! Great outfit. I agree, a limited wardrobe can be inspiring.

This is a really cool outfit! I like what you did with the layers quite alot. I have been thinking about ways to get more use out of my jersey dresses. This is inspirational!

I am sooooo good at Tetris! Which is probably why I like layering so much :)
I love how you’ve layered these pieces. That vest is really cool! I’ve been wanting one for some time, but haven’t been able to commit when I find one. Now that I can see how cool the slouchy style can look, I think I’m ready to take the leap!

Sweet g. pa vest! Way to push it with layering and remixing. And Tetris? Awesome game… I wasted a lot of hours doing that as a kid… I have since switched over the fashion blogging!

[...] Earrings – Gift Endnotes: Today I administered the final exam for my students. Apparently, this pink pinstriped shirt says “exam time” to me, as I just remembered I wore it for last semester’s midterm too. I think I like it because its professional in style but a little more fun because of the bright pink. I have been wanting to wear my black sweater vest again and apparently great minds think alike – S. and I both thought of the button down/vest combo. [...]
