I love this outfit! I often think I love an outfit, but then something happens – the belt shifts around, the skirt rides up, the shirt looks bunchy, it photographs horribly, etc.  But this outfit I loved when I put it on, loved as I wore it, and love it in the photographs.  It is warm and cozy but I think still stylish and elegant in its casualness. I think its slimming.  I think it’s playful.  I think it’s creative and subtle.  I love the mix of charcoal and brown and the mix of olive and teal and the way all these colors came together.  I love the addition of the brown bakelite earrings.

It feels strange to so unabashedly write such positive things about my own appearance. Like many of Sal’s readers, I find that I am rather self-conscious about any form of self-love. It’s so much easier to pick an outfit apart, find its flaws, find your flaws in the way you are wearing it.  Posting a picture of yourself everyday is undoubtedly a self-centered act, but for me its often not a self-praising act.  As S. mentioned last week, style blogging can make you feel very self-conscious and vulnerable and I have more than a few outfit posts that make me cringe to see them now.  So, when I find myself looking at one I love, I’m gunna let you know it!

I’ve definitely felt that consciousness of self-love before, too! I’m glad that I’m not the only one out there. Thank you for your insight on the matter!

I, too, feel like this is one of your best outfits. I smiled when I opened this post on my Google Reader and saw your picture because it’s creative yet simple while being totally YOU.

  3. Kim says:

It’s o.k- I love that outfit too! The soft grey of the sweater with the green is a beautiful combination. The whole outfit LOOKS comfortable.

  10. Jane says:

I know what you mean about the idea of blogging a picture of yourself every day. My daughter calls me a poser!
You look great today. The scarf makes th eoutfit for me – the way it is tied and its colour.

  11. Clare says:

This is a great outfit. I definitely understand about the struggles of self-love within the blogging world. Being “out there” everyday does make you very vulnerable. It’s definitely something I’ve struggled with at times, but I know that overall, because of that forced exposure and vulnerability, I’ve actually gotten stronger and more self-confident. And there are more and more days when I look at myself (in pictures, in a mirror, etc.) and think about how great I look.

I love this outfit, esp. the scarf! I’m a big fan of self-love on style blogs… I see too many posts by people complaining about feeling fat, bloated, dorky, etc. I think those posts are draining to read, whereupon a post written with self-confidence by someone I can relate to really cheers me up!

  13. Sally says:

Right ON, doll! There should be no shame in feeling good about looking good. And you look GOOD in this ensemble. ;)

  14. Trisha says:

I love this outfit too. The color scheme is beautiful; brown, teal and olive green are three of my faves. I’ll have to see if I can pull together something similar with what’s in my closet!

  15. Nerd Girl says:

Great colors, great outfit, great look! I shall try to replicate this one ;)

  16. jentine says:

  17. Sharon says:

I like the pop of color the scarf adds to the overall look. The entire color combo is very flattering for your complexion. I really like ti as well.

  18. Audi says:

Oh, I just love this look — so cozy and soft looking, but also very pulled together and sophisticated. Absolutely beautiful!

  19. Nadine says:

    Gorgeous colours and textures.

  20. Sara says:

I love this outfit – the teal is such a great pop of color that works so well against the rich variations of brown, and also with your coloring. You look lovely!

And I love this post, too. It takes confidence to post a picture of an outfit, of myself, on the internet, but it’s rewarding. Thank you for putting this into words!
