Why yes, I am standing between a toaster, a water heater, and a cardboard storage box. One of my friends, who reads this blog, told me that my poses have gotten a bit predictable and that I should be wary of developing my own version of the ‘Paris Hilton’. While the thought is tempting, I thought I’d take her words into account and see how a bit more movement and spontaneity fairs. So this is me branching out and being creative while posing. It’s clearly a work in progress.

As for the outfit, I’m trying the cuffed pants and boots look again because the day’s uninterrupted rain calls for it. There are few things I hate more than a wet pant leg, slowly creeping upwards. Cuffing my jeans keeps them well off the ground and nice and dry. And I like this version of it even better than the last, which was done with a slightly looser pant leg. This version I’d even do on a sunny day, that’s how much I’m warming up to it.

And a khaki shirt dress worn as a trench completes the rainy day look.
Now I have to go and google Paris Hilton some more, just to make sure I know what I’m avoiding. Thanks, S.B.! ;) S.

heehee I love your new poses! And I loveloveLOVE this cuffed pant look, especially with the skinnier pant leg. Perfect rainy day wear.

  2. angie*~ says:

oh my, u look like you’re in pain! nice outfit btw :)

  3. Sally says:

What fun! And I hope you don’t mind me copying this look … my khaki shirtdress has been languishing unloved!

  4. EmilyKennedy says:

Aww, that’s really cool that you take the feedback and experiment. When I used to model, one thing the staff would tell me was that asymmetrical poses are a good idea. Here’s what bleeek.com says:

Symmetry is officially out in the modeling world. When posing, make sure to differentiate your arms and legs with asymmetrical poses. If you have one arm long and straight by your side, make sure the other arm is bent. Whether a big or small angle, the bend will make the modeling pose look more real, less artificial. Continue the asymmetry to your legs. If one leg is locked straight, give the other leg a casual bend.

Just some more input to mix around in your mental experimenting pot. It’s kind of amazing how somewhat small changes can make a big difference!

  5. i have to be honest that i really like the way you usually pose–you look friendly and normal and not too modely, and that’s fits with your style!
i love the dress over the jeans, by the way!

  6. Diana says:

Awesome new poses, and I love how you wore your shirtdress as a trench.

  7. jentine says:

I’m suprised Paris Hilton has copyrighted her pose yet…
I agree with WANWW and think your poses are natural and open and are very appropriate for the blog. That said, you do work the new poses beside the toaster… nicely done. Are you done with those boots yet? If they are size 9.5-10, I’d like them:)

  8. k says:

i am a big big fan of the cuffed pants to avoid wet cuffs – it looks really good with your slim leg jeans and boots!

  9. Kaylyn says:

Great look! I hate wet pant legs too. It’s crazy how fast the water can creep up all the way to your knee! And I can’t wait to see more poses…I too am stuck in the same pose problem. Work it out girl! haha

  10. WendyB says:

Love the short-sleeved trench coat look. Great styling of the dress.

  11. Nadine says:

Love this outfit! Not so sure about the poses, but they’re fun, anyway . .

  12. SE says:

No offense to your friend, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with your poses. I never even thought of them as “poses”. You always look natural and lovely. Experiment if that’s what you want to do- you certainly don’t need to.

Love the shirtdress, jeans and boots!

  13. Jax says:

Hi, I know you said the boots are from Dillards, but which brand are they?
They look a bit like Frye boots (or Frye imitators). I like them and have been wanting to get boots like those myself.

And yes, nothing wrong with your previous poses… I’m not sure I want to see more awkward Paris Hilton poses.
