I’m wearing my grandmother’s hand me down skirt today. It’s got a bit of a crazy batik look going on, it’s high-waisted, and it has belt loops. I think next to pockets, belt loops are my second favorite surprise feature on a full skirt. And if all that weren’t enough, it’s got a lace trim all along the bottom. Needless to say, she didn’t need to twist my arm too hard for me to take this beauty off her hands.
If I had this vintage inspired JCrew belt with me here, I would pair the two together for a lovely brown and coral combo. A high waisted skirt with belt loops just begs to show off some attention grabbing belt buckles. I would love to get my hands on something like Julie’s awesome owl belt or even something like this leaf inspired vintage cinch belt on Etsy. How about you? Do you rock the oversized belt buckles and have you found any particularly unique pieces? S.

That skirt is beautiful and I love how you combined it with the red and purple. Even the brown boots look perfect! This is very well put together and looks wonderful.
I love this look, especially with those boots!
I actually blogged about a belt purchase I made. It is my first statement buckle purchase, and I really love it! I would have loved to see the coral belt with this skirt, but I love your outfit.

I am get to play around with oversized buckles, but I do love oversized BELTS!
Love the color mix here, S.
I *love* the skirt! So refreshing to see you paired it with red and purple instead of more black and gray.
I think I might have over 30 vintage belts, all of them handed to me by my mom, so I really love a huge belt buckle. I just wish I was braver and wore them more.
This is a beautiful outfit- skirt is gorgeous and you’ve balanced it so well with the white top and purple cardi. In trying to figure out why your outfits work so well, I think it might be that you do balance everything to perfection.
love the skirt – is it a wrap skirt? it almost looks like it in the last photo, but maybe not. also love this modern mix of red and purple – i like to combine them often but i always think of my mom telling me that’s what crazy old ladies wear!
you get awesome things from your grandmother! I love me some lace trim
Fabulous skirt.
