Endnotes:
As E. is in the process of pointing out with her shirt dress challenge, shirt dresses are very versatile garments. (Read: you get a lot of bang for your buck!) I have worn this khaki shirt dress as a trench of sorts layered over another dress, for a more casual look over a button-down shirt, as a way to tone down a triad over a skirt and tee combo, and today, over this bright pink cowl neck top for a dressy-casual approach. I’m now excited to see what E. does with her shirt dress for more inspiration of how to ‘remix’ this favorite item.
And speaking of remixing, Jentine just wrote a lovely post on why ‘remix’ is such a kinder term than perhaps other alternatives. Well put, Jentine! S.

I really like the way pink and brown look together. This is an adorable ensemble, and I love the way the cowl neck looks in this outfit, S!
This is a real stand-out ensemble! The colors are so rich and interesting.
I am LOVING this shirtdress challenge! It’s really inspiring me.
Wow, I love the way you have the neckline. So pretty!
I don’t know whether the thank you or curse you for showing me that adorable etsy shop…No I want all of them!!
Love, E.
So sweet and yet so grown up. You are inspiring me to give pink another try. I’m also intrigued by the book you used as a prop. Do you mind sharing what it is? Thanks.
Thank you, ladies!
@Eliza – I know, I love the scrabble piece idea and I wish I could accumulate a ton more of these little treasures!
@Lucy – hi! Thanks for stopping by and saying hi, it’s so nice to hear from you :)
The book is a German translation (it’s the only way I could get it at the library here) of Julie Anne Peter’s “Luna”. It’s possibly the only YA book centering around a transgendered character and it’s won numerous literary awards! I’m really enjoying it so far and I’m reading it as part of my “research” for my own NaNo novel.
If you’re familiar with the French film “Ma vie en rose” and enjoyed it, then you’re likely going to love “Luna” as well.
S.
Love the pink top layered underneath! And oooof I’m really lusting after cognac-colored boots lately.
AND… this is why I mentioned you, because you’re freaking good at this remixing! If there is one thing I am learning from blogging (besides typing a bit faster) it is the art of the remix. And here again you excel.
I’m learning a lot from you about remixing. I wish I were better at it; I’m terrible in the sense that I have pieces that I only wear one way and that’s it. Maybe that’s why I have such an enormous closet and yet I feel like I have nothing to wear. I should give myself a personal challenge to take only a few pieces and wear them for a week. (not sure if I could!!)
I love the pink top with the brown and fall color palette! The necklace is darling.
You are so fabulous, S. I would NEVER have thought to layer a cowl beneath a shirt dress! It looks so fresh and fun.
I’m super bummed you couldn’t join us this weekend, but also 100% sure that our paths will cross at some point. And soon! ;)
