End Notes:

This outfit is a confluence of an eclectic spread of inspirations, ideas, and self-proposed challenges:

Iriss Boots, originally uploaded by academichic.

  • It’s a celebration of the weather finally cooling off enough at academichic central to warrant wearing BOOTS.
  • It’s a self-proposed challenge to figure out ways to get lots of mileage out of this extra-long, extra-soft gray cardigan this fall.
  • It’s a little bit of a play on slim cuts mixed with volume.
  • It’s a little bit of fanciful little girl dress up, a nod to cowboy boots worn with a tutu.
  • It’s an attempt to get some autumnal wear out of an admittedly summer skirt.
  • And, sure, it’s a little bit of Annie-get-your-gun, with the leather accessories and the skirt acting almost like a full petticoat that’s about to get loose once I hop on my horse.

Clearly, this was one of those days when getting dressed was really a creative effort. The result is maybe a little more quirky than my typical ensembles, but I loved it, and it let me try out the role of cool rockabilly mama for the day.

I have two pairs of my mother’s knee high socks from college too! I thought I was the only one.

Fun outfit. Very these boots were made for walking. I think it is impossible not to be confident in an outfit like this.

    Come on boots!

ADORE it, E. You know I’m a fan of cowgirl looks, and this is a fantastic take on Western-inspired style.

I LOVE this look! I was in Annie Get Your Gun about 6 years ago, but my costumes were no where as cute as this!

    I love your boots E!!!
I also really like how you wore the sweater. I have been eye-ing really long sweaters but was unsure if I could style them correctly. This is a great example.

ps- today is October 1st not September 31st! :)

LOVE the boots! I ebayed them but there are only 3 pairs on there and not the right size. Good find!
