End Notes:
As A. mentioned, we went on a little thrifting trip yesterday afternoon. I’ve managed to move one more size closer to my pre-preggers state, and given how swimmingly my first post-partum thrifting excursion went I felt fully justified in seeing if the thrifting fairies would do their magic once more.
(Preggers readers, I cannot adequately praise the confidence-boosting power of a pair of great fitting pants or a non-elastic waist skirt when you are in your fourth trimester. And I will happily pay $4 for a pair of jeans that may have a shorter longevity in my closet but make me happy in my stretched out skin.)

Perhaps one of my favorite benefits of thrifting is the opportunity to try a look or a piece out that I am uncertain about. Take this top, for example. I surprised myself when I pulled it off the rack for a second look. While I like the color, it’s not something that I would have gravitated towards in a retail store. The low price, however, prompted me to feel a little bolder, a little more willing to try incorporating something different into my wardrobe without worrying too much about financial repercussions. And I’m glad I did!
Are you more experimental in your choices when thrifting? Or does your aesthetic remain the same as when you’re shopping retail?

I’m an animal when I thrift, haha… seriously. I take way more risks and have too much fun because the finds are so plentiful and cheap.

I love thrifting, I find so many things and love to take risks. I think it’s a great way to find some good pieces for your wardrobe and stay in budget.
Love the wine coloured cardi!

Hey – I have a pieced shirt like that left over from my postpartum days. It’s a little big so I don’t wear it, but the cami under is a great idea. My taste is fairly eclectic so I like thrifting for fun pieces to augment retail basics.
P.S. You don’t look like you were ever pregnant. What a fast recovery!

I love to add unique or different pieces from what I would choose in a department store. If it doesn’t work… no harm no foul! I have gathered many fun skirts and dresses this way. Those are my favorite items to thrift as they don’t tend to get as much wear.

I am almost as picky at thrift stores as at retail stores. The price bar shifts in my mind, so a dress that would be a steal for $30 retail becomes way overpriced at a thrift shop. I think it is a reaction to not be like my mom, who bought anything simply because it was on sale :)

I’ve recently started thrifting thanks to you three and other bloggers who seem to find such amazing items. I definitely noticed that I am drawn to items at the thrift stores that I probably wouldn’t even have thought about at regular full price shops. I have been on a belt spree lately and my last visit scored me a bright fun sunshine yellow swing jacket that needs just some very minor alterations before its debut! Oh, the wine and blue combo is so very nice on you, E. Who am I kidding…all your combos look BEAUTIFUL!!!

What a pretty outfit. You three need to write a how-to post on thrifting. I never find anything, just gross sweatshirts and stuff.

not sure how ‘picked over’ the thrift stores in your areas are, but I’m finding some amazing pieces at estate sales listed on craigslist these days. Such sales are an historian’s dream since the whole house becomes a sort of temporary archive!

Yay, thrifting confidence! I always end up with pieces I wouldn’t normally buy when I go thrifting, and they often turn into favorites!

That’s a great shirt! It’s definitely nice to be able to try new things at a lower price. I don’t often thrift clothes (simply because of time and patience) but the one time I was going to – a similar shirt – I walked away because the line was too long!

That top is such fun – glad you splashed out. I DEFINITELY thrift bolder than I shop. I kind of wish it weren’t true, but low prices make me feel more comfortable taking chances.

I love that pattern on you!

Love the color combo! Its one of the things that I think looks so great on you, but I would never think to have put together. Also, I love the blue top and I think its versitile in that you can layer it now for warmth in fall and spring, but will be great come summer as well.
