I have always been drawn to grey and insist that there are a beautiful range of greys out there, some soft and subtle and others rich and complex. When I stumbled across this J Crew tote last week for only $16, I had to have it. It’s large enough to fit my laptop, several folders, and handful of books, and all of the other junk I carry around with me.
I wore a similar palette back in February as a monochromatic look, using the same scarf as an obi. This scarf is a nice light weight so I am trying out the summer-scarf trend. Which Fab Finds Under $50‘s July Inspiration Calendar calls for this Friday. I was a bit unsure of how to pull this off and am still not convinced it would work as well on a sunnier day. What do you think of the summer scarf? When does it work and when doesn’t it?

I think you got the title date wrong!
Great site and I love today’s outfit!
Oh gosh, I love grey too! I find it to be so much more versatile than black or other neutrals and it always has a sort of centering, calming effect on me when I wear it…weird, I know. I love that bag, too! Since I broke my arm and can really only carry one bag at a time, large purses/totes that can fit groceries, lunch, extra shoes, etc. in them have been lifesavers.
Do you spell it grey or gray? Any particular reason? I tend to go back and forth all the time.
I am not sure about the summer scarf thing either. When I have something around my neck, it always makes me warm, even if it is light weight. I think for me, scarves have to be fall through spring, no summer.
That said, I do think a light weight scarf looks great on other people in the summer!
Gray is a color.
Grey is a *colour*
:-) Gray is the way Americans changed the spelling from the English original over time. Either is considered acceptable when talking about names.
I love the summer scarf trend I wear one at least twice a week! I think the more you wear one the more comfortable you’ll feel!
I adore the summer scarf – I always feel more chic and pulled-together with a scarf, somehow. This one looks fab on you, lady!
I love how you spell grey ‘correctly’ – heehee!
I’m curious as to how summer scarves rate in terms of ‘wearability’. I wear scarves all the time in winter because IT’S COLD, but in summer wouldn’t they be annoying? You LOOK terrific in that scarf, but how does it wear?
Summer scarves … that’s a tough one. I like the look and the style, but it does seem kind of odd when it’s warm out. If it’s leight weight enough though I can see it being more like a necklace instead of a scarf for warmth. Either way, it looks great! I wore one about a month ago and it worked out OK.
Love the flats and grey/black combo!

I love this monochromatic look on you!
As for summer scarves, it really depends on the day for me. Some days I can’t bear the thought of extra fabric around my neck, but other days it’s cool enough. They really are perfect for chilly offices though :)
I love scarves all year round. I think you look great! For a hotter day, try wrapping it around your wrist as a bracelet (if it’s a light enough fabric) or twisting it into a necklace that hangs more loosely around your neck – another way is to wear it wrapped in your hair – a classic look that works for all hair lengths. I *love* your “gray scale” outfit!
