Endnotes:
A couple weeks ago, E. told of a story of her evolving relationship to shorts.
I came around to the walking shorts pretty quickly. After puberty, I never really felt comfortable in short shorts because of my proportions. I wore longer cargo shorts or hiking shorts while in college but these never managed to look very chic. When Bermuda or walking shorts became popular for women under 50, I was all over it! I have several pairs now that I spend the summer rotating through.
I still haven’t figured out a way to wear them with heels and dress them up like both E. and S. do so beautifully. But, I do think this top, with its rich color, high quality fabric, and interesting neckline, paired with my shiny green flats take this outfit up a notch! -A

I’m in total agreement with the walking shorts. I LOVE when others pair them with heels or wedges, but just can’t seem to bring myself to try. I just feel silly when I do. I love the color combo here, and what’s the story behind those earrings?? So great!!
That’s a super flattering top! Get more!
I love the look of clams and shorts with heels, but you have to get the components of the outfit right. These are really casual walk shorts and therefore look best with flats.
Paragraph 2- wear, not where
The cut of that top looks great on you!!
I love that top on you – it looks amazing!
I just did shirt wedges with walking shorts for the first time not too long ago ( http://shopkimsblog.blogspot.com/2009/06/changed-my-mind.html ) and it felt a little weird at first but I got used to it. Of course, this was only a small step up from a flat but I think the wedge look is great. You could definitely pull it off!
I love the color of that top on you! I feel the same way about walking shorts with heels, I love how it looks on others, but it just feels strange to me to wear anything but flats with them.
I know what you mean about shorts. I didn’t really wear them after college until I found trouser-y pair from Express. With a fancier top and heels it’s really good for going out!
