On S (all remixed but dress!):

On Erika:

  • Top – Anthropologie
  • Skirt – J. Crew
  • Sandals – Merrell
  • Pearl necklace – Gift from parents
  • Sand bracelet – Souvenir from South Korea

Endnotes:

Today I got to have a coffee date with one of our lovely readers, Erika, who’s also a fellow PhD in the Humanities. Erika’s hometown happens to be the same city in which T. resides – and what a happy coincidence for me because I got to spend a wonderful afternoon with her at one of the local coffee shops. We had a great time chatting about everything from philosophy to skirt lengths to cycling in Paris and body dysmorphia in dogs. Unfortunately, Erika returns to the city of her current university and I’ll be forced  to once more spend my days reading and working, instead of pleasantly chit-chatting about the consequences of riding bikes the wrong way down a six-lane street in France or about the aesthetic appeal of Hamilton, Ontario (not much!).

Then, Erika allowed me to exploit her wonderful sense of style for our site:

After a well spent couple of hours, I had to take off since T. and I had plans to attend a work-related function for him. Since today was spent meeting Erika and then T’s colleagues, I figured it was the right time to pull out the other item I thrifted at the Haight Street Goodwill in San Francisco on my recent trip there: this bright pink halter dress. For a summery color mix, I added a mustard yellow belt, my new favorite yellow bag and, of course, Nerp.

Thanks, Erika, for a great coffee date! S.

You’re right, Hamilton, ON is not very pretty, but I have loved every minute of my 3 business trips there in the last few years. The people are fabulous and that great historic road (can’t remember the name, Front St maybe?) of bars was so much fun!

Anyway, Hamilton is where I realized how much I love canada and it’s people! Wierd huh? :)

Beautiful dresses! If I ever get to San Francisco, I’ll have to check out the Haight Goodwill!

Great colour combo, S., and I love Erika’s maxi skirt with the strappy sandals.

I also feel I need to come to Hamilton’s defence (yes, that’s the Canadian spelling :). After living there for two years, I think Hamilton has an undeservedly bad reputation for a place with such a convenient and absolutely gorgeous location (100+ waterfalls in the surrounding Niagara Escarpment, beautiful countryside), affordable living options in nice neighbourhoods, diverse arts and music scene, and extremely friendly people. I’m definitely very sorry to have left it.

So many people standing up for Hamilton! I usually cough the answer when people ask me where I live but since I’ve been doing my blog, I’ve found some really cool places to take pictures and I realized that Hamilton is much nicer than I ever gave it credit for.
    Cute thrifted dress!

I knew I was asking for trouble when poking fun at Hamilton! ;)

But I agree, there is much to redeem what is otherwise a pretty industrial city and the people are definitely very friendly and wonderful! I only make fun because I lived there for five years and feel about Hamilton the way one would about a little sibling – one feels like one has the right to pick on him/her but really feels a lot of affection for said sibling as well.
