Another dress to round out this dress-intesive week. It’s still hot and humid and the less layers the better! (Although I think I should have put this sleeveless number into rotation earlier as to avoid this lovely farmer’s tan I’m sporting. Please be so kind as to ignore it.)
To be somewhat innovative with yet another dress outfit, I decided to go for a more unusual color combo (to me, at least) and add orange shoes and belt to this mostly green dress. Orange and green? Why not! The Irish may not be so pleased, but I think I like it for today.
What are some of your more creative color combinations? Are there any colors you absolutely would not wear together and why? S.

i used to be really against wearing black and brown together but i’m over that now. you look lovely. cool shoes.
Wonderful! I love shirt dresses and yours is fab. The orange is GREAT with the green.
I don’t wear red and green together. I just feel to Christmas–y in that combo, especially here in America where people wear so called “holiday colours” and take Christmas decorating very seriously. I hope that makes sense.
I love a greenish shade of citron with a nice coral orangish pink. It seems like it might be blinding, but they go so well together that it’s become my new favorite combination (replacing orange with blue).
I’ve actually been really wanting to do some green + orange styling lately. I think it looks great on you, and I adore that dress! I have a very similar one, w/ cap sleeves, and you’ve definitely given me some ideas (and a major yen to wear it soon!).
I love this color combo! The pops of orange really brighten things up.
I use my red ballet flats to pop just about anything, but particularly deep purple and a cardigan that’s almost Tiffany blue.
While there are colors that I almost never wear (yellow, orange, and, randomly, green), I haven’t completely nixed any combination that I can think of. I’m not likely to do anything too cutesy though – holiday-themed, etc.
Grey and chocolate brown are good for fall winter. I used to think it was a terrible combination.
I also love wearing teal blue with yellow. I have a pair of patent mustard yellow shoes and I like pairing them with cool colors rather than warm ones.
I really struggle to wear yellow with black. I worry that I’ll look like a bumble bee. So, now i’m more likely to wear yellow with brown or grey or pink or blue.
Love the pop of orange! I am really open to any color combos. I don’t think it’s the color but how you pull it off. Some I am not as confident about and others I am starting to warm up to.
You look great! I love those orange sandals.
The 2 colors I can’t wear together are brown & yellow. Too…well, I’ll just say it: too bathroom-y. :-) Also I’ve caught myself wearing blue pants, a red shirt and white sweater and that seems too cheesily patriotic or something.
Love the addition of the orange belt and shoes. I have so many fav colors combos – teal/turquoise & coral, gray & yellow, the ever-preppy pink and green!
I love blue and orange together. (UVA colors) It is my fave fave fave! I also seem to wear a lot of burgundy and orange together. (VA Tech colors) Its funny, because I didn’t go to either of those schools!
Thanks for some great color combo ideas! I esp. like burgundy and orange, that’s one I haven’t tried. Good eye, Julia, with those school colors!
And Lauren – I had to laugh because A. had to point out to me the same thing about brown and yellow a while ago, and I think you’re both right… it is a bit too bathroom-ish.

Great use of accessories. I really like this!
Do you ever go to work or an event and find a predominate color or pattern that day – as if everyone woke up and coordinated outfits?
That happend once to me at work when I wore an orange sweater and green shirt. Oddly, on that summer day every lady in the office came in wearing orange or green or both together – it was an odd but humorous coincidence.
I like the way you’ve paired the colors with the orange as a perfect accent.
