Today, we are throwing E. and her husband N. a baby shower in A.’s backyard. A. and I have been looking forward to this for a long time, we’ve had ideas for the menu, for the decorations, and the party for a while and it’s been so fun to plan and get ready for it together! (Although much credit must also be given to A’s girlfriend, also A., who’s worked a ton on the backyard to get it party ready!). So it’s been a joint effort and we are ecstatic to spend the afternoon with preggers E. and husband N. and many friends who are all excited about the arrival of baby e.
A. and I will be posting a Taking Notes on How to Throw a Back Yard Baby Shower soon to show you some DIY decorating tricks we’ve picked up in the process and to share this fun event with all of you who’ve been following along with E.’s pregnancy. (A. will also reveal her shower outfit then, since she’s slightly occupied at the moment, as one is when hosting at one’s home.)

As for my outfit for today – I lucked out and received this wonderful Anthropologie dress on loan from the weardrobe closet just in time yesterday! It’s gorgeous, perfectly light-weight for this heat, and just the right note of dressy for this type of event.
I took the rest of the outfit’s inspiration from the floral motif of the dress and accessorized with a pink floral scarf belt, flower clips in my hair, and silver flower earrings. And just look at how lovely the back of the dress is. I couldn’t have been more thrilled to get to borrow it for the day, so thank you, Weardrobe! It’s going to be tough to part with this beautiful item.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a party to get to! S.

ooohhhh! That dress is absolutely fabulous! And I love it paired with the belt and yellow flats. Good job!
I love the shoes! I have been looking for something like those for ages. They seem to go with just about everything. Also, I am familiar with weardrobe but had no idea that they lend clothes. How does that work??
Wow, that dress is awesome!
What a gorgeous dress! Also, I love the way that you’ve used the yellow shoes to bring out the touches of yellow in the sash. Just one of the many reasons I love your style; the ability to combine colors and patterns in an effortless yet incredibly stylish way. Kudos and have fun at the shower!!
I’ve been lurking for a few weeks and just wanted to pop in and say that I love the outfits and inspiration! You guys are great!
Also, I can’t wait for the tips on throwing a backyard shower. I will also be doing a backyard shower in a couple of weeks and I am looking forward to the advice.
The dress is absolutely gorgeous, as are all things Anthro. I love how you paired it with yellow and pink – it’s a color combo I never would have thought of, but it looks amazing.
Thanks, all, for your nice words! It was easy to feel put-together in this dress, it does all the work for you! I’m so sad to see it go!
@sjb – weardrobe just launched the “weardrobe closet” and if you’re an active member, they invite you to borrow items, style them, and return them at no cost.
@Clare – the scarf does have yellow in it, which is why the shoes really worked, but I’m surprised you noticed since I didn’t think that was very visible in the pictures!
I didn’t know that weardrobe was such a simple idea. I wonder if they ship to Canada. The dress looks really nice (esp. the back), boo to having to return it.
So lovely and fresh! That dress is perfect for the occassion, and I must say: you look fantastic with your hair up like that!
hi S, i’m a long time reader who nevr comments…but admire the way u girls dress. i noticed u wore all black with a pink scarf belt once and was wondering…. do you tihnk it would be appropriate to copy that style for a uni graduation in may’10? it’ll be fall in australia then… do you think it’ll suit the weather and type of event? i might maybe add a blue scarf and shoes instead of pink :)
here’s the link to that outfit i totaly love!
