End Notes:

I’m done with my semester! I turned in my last paper on Monday and finished up my grading yesterday. I have to admit, though, I’m having a hard time feeling a real sense of relief. My husband and I have been in the process of getting our floors replaced for the last month and a half and they’re still not done. I have a hard time when projects outside my control linger, especially when I have a 2.5 page long document entitled The Great Nest of 2009 that I need to get started on.

On to my outfit. Between belt-free week and being preggers, I’ve come more and more to value a balance between structure and fluidity. Maybe it’s like a wardrobe metaphor for my life. I would have never guessed that I would be such an advocate of little structured jackets over jersey pieces while preggers, but I feel like they have been a lifesaver for helping me feel polished while remaining comfortable. All my jackets are washable cotton, too, a blissful union of form and function. I think these wedge t-straps actually serve a similar purpose as the jacket. They’re chunkier and more architectural and serve as a good counterpoint to all the other flowy I have going on. It’s a simple but clean outfit for a day of errands and catching up on everything that got pushed to the side during the final month of school.

E, you wear those cropped, structured jackets so well that they’ve made it onto my thrift list … like permanently. And FYI, they are HARD to thrift! I can find bales of shoulded-padded, down-to-the-knees, boxy-ass 80s blazers … but something as sleek as this little navy number you have on? Scarce.

  2. Kaylyn says:

Love this outfit. Fun color mixing, comfy but still looking totally put together. You really do wear these cropped jackets well.

  3. Kelly says:

You look great – and congratulations on the end of the semester!

  4. Kathleen says:

Your whole outfit is so cute (love yellow and brown together), but I especially love those wedges!

  5. Diana says:

You definitely look amazing in structured jackets with knits – you’ve got me searching for one every time I go shopping now.

  6. caroline says:

Yep. I’m looking for a jacket like yours every time I go shopping, too! But I like your blue one best. A black one can sometime be too suit-like. And your blue matches so many things!

There’s a store where I live whose name reminds me of you:

Hot Mama! (to be :D )

  8. Kari says:

What a pretty look! You can totally pull off “beltless”, and the structured look of the jacket really makes it work.

  9. Clare says:

I love that yellow AND those wedges. You look great!!
