Today’s outfit is in answer to a few challenges:

The first challenge, and the overall inspiration for the ensemble, comes from S. who challenged me to play along with Oh Honey No’s Clue Challenge as Mr. Black. I’m not sure what message I should take form the fact that S. challenged E. to play Professor Plum (not a far stretch) but me to play the victim/villian. Mr. Black is the victim of the murder the clue game seeks to solve. In the states he is usually named Mr. Boddy. This is also his name in the 1985 film Clue, a childhood favorite, in which he is the villain/victim – he has blackmailed all the other characters (and possibly worse, but you will have to watch the film to find out). Given his British name, Mr. Black, and the fact that he dresses in all black or a black suit in the film and in most images, the obvious choice here would be an all black suit. But, as E. mentioned, we are administering the final exam for our students and so I felt a black suit would be a bit much for their anxiety levels.

I am wearing this black top because it is black but also because it allows me to meet my second challenge, which is to go belt-less all week. The close fit of this top still reveals a small waist and the v-neck with blousey tank underneath gives it some visual interest.

I am wearing my pinstriped suit pants because they are a bit like butler pants and if you have seen the film you know why that is relevant! They also help me with my third challenge, which is to cover the many bruises on my legs from working on that backyard project I’ve mentioned.

Finally, I was inspired to throw on my red-ish wedges by Kimberly’s challenge to wear black with a pop of red.

The fit of that top is fantastic on you. I love how the tank peeks out from underneath it.

  2. Madeline says:

Ditto Diana! I love the combo on the top, it couldn’t fit better. And I am always a sucker for a red shoe.

  3. Kaylyn says:

I echo the previous comments. The tops looks great on you and the tank peeks out of the shirt perfectly.
I’m excited to see a whole week of beltlessness from the 3 of you. :)

  4. caroline says:

I love the shoe, too. What an interesting combination of the ruffled tank and the black shirt. You look great without the belt.

  5. hanna says:

lol, looks like we both had the same idea to slip a pop of red into our mr black ensembles! ;) thanks for playing, you look AMAZING, as ever!

  6. Great neckline on the white top!

  7. Cheryl says:

Funny but the black top looks dark chocolate brown in my computer. Maybe it was just the light.:) Anyway, just wanna say what a small waist you have in there.Mine right now is in hiding.lol!
