End Notes:
Ironically, my glucose tolerance test — the procedure that every woman who has ever been pregnant recounts with dire warnings — was scheduled for today, during my university’s reading/exam period. (Sometimes I think that my entire life is somehow magically controlled by the semester system.) Basically, I had to down a bottle of something akin to extra-sweet fruit punch, wait around for an hour, and then have my blood drawn. It wasn’t awful, but I would prefer to pass so that I don’t have to take the three hour version.

And I told the baby that much as well.
I’m burrowing inside for the rest of the day, working on yet another paper and staying comfy in jersey and a knit cardi. (I think I might be crazy to wear stripes on my bottom half while pregnant but since they’re diagonal rather than horizontal we’ll probably be okay.) Although I don’t need to be on campus for the whole week, I’ve decided that I do need to get dressed every morning, so I’m trying to think of a good mini-wardrobe challenge to keep me motivated through this stressful final push. If you haven’t already figured it out, I do best with some sort of structure in place! Any suggestions? I’m thinking about revisiting some of our color modules and trying them again with springtime clothes.

I love that skirt! And diagonal stripes are fab – I think that they are much more flattering than horizontal or vertical stripes.
As a challenge from my boyfriend, I spent all last week trying to dress without cardigans. The weather helped since it was so sunny, but I didn’t realize just how much I plan outfits around cardigan and lite sweater options. Cardigans help me add color, layer and help my hid curves I’m not comfortable having, but I learned that I depend on them more and more to make myself more work ready. But always wearing the same item, just in different colors and styles isn’t very fashion risky is it? I still feel a little dazed from last week and will probably need to slowly re-intorduce myself to the layer wearing world.
Cute outfit! I especially love the “pep talk” photo–I hope baby is listening up today!
I challenged myself this week to wear NO black; including black pants. Someone told me last week that black was “my” color, which really sounded like “you’re boring!” While I do love black and wear it often, I felt the need to branch out and explore other parts of the color wheel. I’m off to a good start with purply-blue top and gray pants today!
That skirt is glorious!
How about getting A and S to give you suggestions for colors or accessories around which you can build your outfits each day? Doesn’t have to be hard on them either: Just a quick e-mail that says, “Tomorrow, you wear RED!”
A different take on the colours thing might be to look into colours that suit you and why- warm/cool, clear/muted etc… Or perhaps a challenge to try and find a way to wear colours that really don’t suit you?
I think the skirt looks great! No problem with the stripes at all.
On a side note, I was “pouncing” through Etsy today and saw this skirt and thought of you. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=pounce&listing_id=24059731. The seller has no connection to me at all, just thought you might like it!
Thanks for the ideas, everyone! I think Sal’s idea takes the least amount of brainpower on MY end, and since I’m conserving all of that mental juice for the end of the semester push I think we are going to go with it.
But, Kayla, I think I subliminally participated in your cardigan ban last week! I just looked at my pictures and I managed to be cardigan-free for a whole week. We’re all so proud.
Emily, I think I should challenge myself to a no brown week at some point. Because my current wardrobe is so limited, though, we might have to wait until the weather becomes more consistent.
Jennie, that is a good idea, and something that I definitely need to think on more! Maybe after the semester is over I will go catch up on my Imogen-reading and learn more about what she says about personal coloring.
Kim, that is a FAB skirt! Thanks for the tip!
[...] E. mentioned she could use a little challenge to help her get dressed this week. She got some great suggestions, but because both E. and S. are quite mentally taxed this week [...]
[...] As E. mentioned, this week we’ll be on campus much less as the semester winds down and we̵…. I agree with E. that looking put together translates to feeling put together and, consequently, to being more productive. So I, too, will make an effort to keep getting dressed as I work from home and get ready to take my last comprehensive exam in three weeks. And A’s challenges will help ensure that happens! She challenged me to wear green today, a color I don’t wear very frequently, so I combined her style challenge and this very cute outfit worn by Dolofe on Wardrobe Remix to create today’s look. [...]
