End Notes:
I miss high-waisted pencil skirts. I was a big fan of the trend pre-preggers, but, due to bumpage, it was one of the first items in my closet to be relegated to the “not for nine months” bin. When I saw this look in the most recent issue of Lucky I vowed to remember it until I (hopefully) return to a pencil-skirt wearability zone.
But, since this week’s Proportions module is all about trying to make a trend or style fit the bodies we currently have, I decided to try for a pencil skirt alternative for the preggers bod.
Though close-fitting through the tummy and thigh, the flare at the hem of this skirt helps create a more balanced shape overall. Since I can’t wear the skirt over my bump, I’m working to create a longer leg line with the cropped jacket. But while the Lucky model is wearing hers open, I’m keeping my top button buttoned to emphasize the swing of the coat and ensure that I don’t end up looking like a blocky mass on top.
In the end, it’s perhaps more “sweet and demure” than “classic and sexy” but I’ll take that, too.

Well played, E! And that skirt is fantastic – if I were you, I’d be sad to let it go once mini-E finally arrives.
Love how this part of the proportions module is playing out. That skirt looks great on you.
I love those shoes! It looks like the heel isn’t too big. could you stand in them all day?
Great shoes! You look so good in this!
Your outfit is the perfect mix of sweet and sassy! The orange heels are absolutely perfect with it!
Thanks, everyone, especially for the shoe love.
@Sal – Yes, I’ll be a wee bit sad to retire this skirt post-baby. But, I have a good many tulip skirts to take its place!
@Marie – I can! They also have a cone heel which gives more support than a stiletto or even a kitten heel might. They’re great for days when I have to look more professional but also have to walk all over campus.
