Endnotes:

The week is coming to an end and so is our “feature your best” module. However, I hope that that the idea behind this module will continue on – that we here at academichic and you, the lovely readers, will continue to celebrate what it is that we/you love about our/your bodies and continue to think of fashion as a way to showcase those features, rather than hide the less appreciated ones.

To finish my list for this week, I present you with my wild mane. While we both envy E. for her thick, straight, glossy, and pretty much always-perfect -with-no-work-or-product-whatsoever hair, A. and I have more of a love-hate relationship with our locks. My hair is  wild, curly, with great frizz-potential, and until recent years I have had no idea what to do with it.  Now I celebrate its fullness and volatility. I wear it curly in the summer when I can’t stand the heat of the blow-dryer to straighten it, and I wear it straight in the winter, when the heat of the dryer and straightener feel so good.  Often I pull it back, but sometimes I let it fly in a state of crazy inbetween-ness of neither straight nor curly nor any particular style at all. S.

We are sisters of the insane mane, lady. ;) Can’t wait to see you curly!

  2. Megan says:

I love the pale pink top you’re wearing. It’s adorable!

  3. lauren. says:

i love, love, love everything about your outfit!

  4. Sara says:

I love your hair curly! Thanks (to the three of you) for the week of accentuating the positive – it made me think.

  5. Chiada says:

You have gorgeous, glossy hair; I love that it is its own natural color. Mine, too, is prone to frizz. Mine is wavy but can be straightened or scrunched. I usually just do a partial blow-dry and get my bangs done and let the rest do its own thing. Really cute Spring-y outfit, too.

  6. S. says:

    Thanks, everyone!

@Sal – I know, I read something you wrote about your curls when trying the straightener and realized we were ‘insane mane’ buddies back then! :)

@Sara – this module has been a good reminder to us too, to be more positive in our approach to our bodies and I’ve really enjoyed it! Glad you did too!

@Chiada – well….about the natural color part… I’m actually going quite gray and actually dye may hair to *match* my natural color! So yes, it’s my color pretty much, but a faux version trying to be my real color :)

You know you’re getting old when you’re no longer dying your hair crazy colors and “fun” hues, but dying it to look like what your color once was…sigh…

  7. Clare says:

I’m definitely in the love/hate my hair boat. Mine is curly and so thick, but gives me attitude and confidence that I don’t think I’d have without it. And the grays? Oh yeah, me too!

  8. Diana says:

I love seeing you with your hair down. And the lovely, light shades of that outfit look great on you :)

  9. Erin says:

How very spring! So feminine and floaty. You look beautiful!
