Today is my turn with Kimberly’s Traveling Scarf!  Thanks, Kimberly, it’s fabulous! I’m so excited to participate in this activity because I draw so much of my style inspiration not from magazines and “professionals” but rather from everyday people rocking awesome outfits on their style blogs or in the wardrobe remix pool. So to get to see how other fabulous ladies are styling the same item is so fun and inspirational to me.

A. set the bar high yesterday when she not only pattern-mixed with the scarf but also drew out the beautiful baby blue in it to build her outfit around that. So I decided to not not even compete with that, but to go another route entirely: I’m using the scarf as a pop of color against my all black outfit and using my red wedges as another pop of red to balance out the scarf. What do you think?

This week we’re also showcasing the features we like about ourselves (instead of talking about camouflaging or mitigating ‘problem-zones’) and I like my smile! Due to financial reasons, I got braces very late in life (my freshman year of college!) and I definitely appreciate my smile now. I also like that I only have one dimple in my left cheek, it’s just a little quirk that makes me me. Sal, incidentally, just wrote about smiling in style photos and so this one’s dedicated to her ;)

I’m all smiles with the traveling scarf:

Yaaay! And what a gorgeous smile it is, S. This scarf looks completely perfect as an accent with your lovely black dress. You look like a chic French femme. ;)

  3. Chiada says:

I love how you balanced the red scarf with the red shoes! Looks great agains the black dress. Also, I love your smile and one-sided dimple. You should smile like that more often!

  4. Sara says:

I am also inspired by the wardrobe remix pool, and currently by this idea of pairing a bright scarf with a simple and lovely black dress. But your smile makes this outfit!

  5. Diana says:

Nothing is quite as chic as an LBD with red accents.

  6. The scarf looks great, but I’m actually a huge fan of that black dress. It’s the perfect work LBD.

  7. [...] to wear the traveling scarf today! A. made this look so fresh as a belt over a baby blue cardi, and S. looked radiant with it as a neck-tie. I don’t usually wear square silk scarves, so it a little while for me to brainstorm a way to [...]
