Seven Random Things About the Chics

The Chics, originally uploaded by academichic.

The lovely Danielle of Fell 4 Fashion tagged us to write seven random things about ourselves. We did this not too long ago (read about E., A., and S. here), so we thought that this time around we would have a little fun with the tag and write about each other.

Read what we wrote about each other after the jump…

7 random things about A (sitting left), by S:

  1. A. was a girl scout, so she can get a bonfire going within five minutes with just the use of a flip-flop and some twigs.
  2. A. has run two marathons already and will run her third one this weekend.
  3. A. makes a mean chocolate chip banana bread from scratch and an even meaner guacamole.
  4. A’s favorite stores include Banana Republic, J. Crew, Home Depot, and Lowes.
  5. If she weren’t in academia, A’s dream job would be to own a Bed & Breakfast.
  6. A. likes her coffee to be a latte with skim milk, a bit of honey, and a dusting of coco and cinnamon on top.
  7. A. has an imaginary spaceship in which she sends very unpleasant people out to space.

7 random things about S (sitting right), by E:

  1. S. speaks four languages. Sometimes we have her translate random phrases or words just to hear what they would sound like in German… or French… or Romanian.
  2. S. arranges her closet by color, and the result is a very impressive prismatic display of clothing.
  3. S. has an incredibly infectious laugh.
  4. S. changes her hair seasonally. She wears it straight in the winter and curly in the summer. Since I have stick straight hair I find this ability absolutely fascinating.
  5. S. has trained for two marathons, but she’s running her first one this weekend. Her initial attempt was tragically waylaid by the remnants of a hurricane that deluged our area with 6 inches of rain the morning of the race.
  6. Besides Alf, S.’s other childhood television obsession was The Golden Girls.
  7. One of S.’s current television obsessions is the Biggest Loser. She and A. watch is religiously, usually after running and usually over a substantial dinner followed by dessert.

7 random things about E (middle), by A:

  1. E. is partial to small plates. This means that she literally has a collection of beautiful tiny plates and that she enjoys tapas and appetizers.
  2. While we all know our share of feminist theory, E. is our resident Kristeva expert.
  3. E is a puff pastry aficionado. I have enjoyed many a tastey puff pastry treats from E’s kitchen.
  4. Although E. is half Japanese and grew up in Hawaii, she celebrates a Ukrainian Easter. So, this past weekend she made many loaves of delicious Easter bread and beautifully decorated eggs with a stylus and hot wax.
  5. E. showers at night, sleeps on wet hair, and wakes up with the silky straight locks you see her sport every day (note a hint of jealousy here).
  6. E. designs gorgeous wedding invitations for friends and family on the side and will be designing S’s wedding invitations soon.
  7. E. is an amazing cook and generally eats healthy (small plate) meals. But, every once in a while, she satiates a craving for Jack in the Box.

We would like to tag seven bloggers we’ve recently discovered, whose blogs we love, and who we would love to learn more about:

Goober, From Tomboy to Fashionista, Internal Sequins Issues, Between Laundry Days, Orchids in Buttonholes, My Fashion Chronicle, and Simple Elegance.

I just found your blog last week or so. You guys (and your lists!) are super cute, and really inspiring to a fellow grad student. :)

  6. S. says:

Thanks, everyone for your sweet words on this post! We’re looking forward to more lists of randomness from all the great bloggers we tagged :)

Homely Girl – we did meet in grad. school. A. and E. are in the same department and were part of the same incoming class. I’m in a different department, but had a class with A. We talked about how we’re both runners and made a date to go for a run together. Then we just kept running together almost daily and she introduced me to E., and that’s how it all started :)

  7. Thanks for the tag guys! You gave me lots to blog about today which was needed!

    E. I do the same thing with my hair! Shower at night and sleep on it wet and it stays as straight as can be! I always wished I had wavy hair that would curl…

You guys remind me of my group of girls… I introduced the other 2, who introduced me to a 4th girl and we have been inseparable ever since!

    Thanks for being so awesome!

  8. T-bone says:

How do you say “HOT” in Romanian, because you gals are smokin’?
