Endnotes:
The conference is officially over now and I am exhausted. Once again, I think I was one of the most dressed up people there today but I felt comfortable and confident as I delivered my paper, fielded questions, and approached various scholars and introduced myself. I also had a nice talk with an editor who was in a suit, so I felt on equal footing, at least fashion wise.
I am glad I chose not to wear the silk top and really like the way my earrings added a bit of an artsy touch to a the more professional pinstripe skirt and cardigan. They also nicely tied in the green shoes – although I’m sure no one else took note of this!
I learned a lot these past two days and can’t wait to debrief with S. and E. when I get back to academichic headquarters but for now I am headed out for much needed dinner and drinks with a lovely group of Swedes!

I love this outfit. It’s cute and professional, AND it shows a little of your personality. Perfect!
How wonderful to have the opportunity to present your paper abroad! What was the topic of your paper?
thanks for your coments, sorry our english is very bad!
We know your web for What i wore, we like it.
I think at professional conferences it’s always better to be dressed up and polished. You look fabulous!
Love the belted cardigan! By the way, are you wearing hose? The question of whether or not to wear hose often keeps me from wearing skirts in professional or teaching situations. Ironically, I often end up wearing skirts in colder weather, when I can pair them with opaque tights or tall boots. I’d appreciate any thoughts on this – thanks!
Thanks everyone.
Michelle – I am not wearing hose and usually don’t if the weather permits (if not I wear tights). I don’t really like the way they look or feel. I personally think bare legs with a longer skirt (knee length or longer) is fine for a professional look.
What do other people think?

Love the outfit. I always think it shows respect for others when you show up looking professional and polished!
PS: no need for hose with this one.
