  • Magical diamond patterned top – thrifted, with A.
  • Gray trousers – Ann Taylor Loft maternity, via eBay
  • Metallic peep toes – Target, remixed
  • Jacket (below) – BR Outlet, remixed many a time

End Notes:

Today is one of those days where I know the outfit works. These Ann Taylor Loft Maternity trousers came in the mail from their eBay seller a couple of days ago and I have been dying to wear them. They look, feel, and fit like “real” trousers, and I am madly in love with them. I’m rather crushed that Loft stopped making maternity clothes just in time for me to be preggers, but a steady supply remains on eBay, and you can be sure that I’ll be checking more of their merchandise out soon.

This top does everything right. The width of the shoulders and the slightly voluminous sleeves gives me a waist, the ruching keep my bump in place, and the pattern is just fun. With an open blazer thrown on top and metallic peep toes on my feet, I feel, like I said repeatedly to my husband this morning, “Like a person in real clothes.” I mean, jersey is great and all, but sometimes a girl just needs a good pair of trousers.

Just in case anyone was wondering, cameras do lie. The baby bump is still there:

    Dude, where’s my baby bump?

  3. I was turned onto this blog a couple of weeks ago and am really loving all the outfits, the practical advice, and the academic take on things. The colour theory lesson has boosted my creativity quite a bit when it comes to putting together my outfits, so thanks! Top looks great – being pear-shaped myself, it hit me that it’s exactly that silhoette I need to widen the shoulders and take attention away from the hips. Hopefully I’ll be as lucky when thrifting!

Just a suggestion – I think the colour and pattern modules were great; maybe you guys would consider doing ones on texture and shape down the road?

  4. Diana says:

Wow, that outfit really is flattering. Both pieces are great finds. I didn’t realize that Loft used to make maternity clothes.

  5. Kahea says:

Okay, that is some sort of crazy magic top, because I’m sitting here trying to see the bump to no avail!

The whole outfit just looks great!
