Sources:

  • Silk cami – American Eagle
  • Black top – thrifted
  •  Fringed scarf – found in my grandmother’s old things
  • Skirt – Old Navy, remixed
  • Shoes! – Donald J Pliner, via Dillards
  • Dog – Indie (looking very fierce here)

Endnotes:

Day 2 of pattern mixing. While E.’s prints have crept closer together, mine have moved further apart since yesterday’s look, but it’s a good thing since seeing them all together like this makes me feel a bit frightened and definitely overwhelmed:

However, what ties all these items together is that the same colors are repeated in all of them; black, browns, and shades of red or red-orange. Although the patterns are different, keeping it to the same color families creates unity and cohesion (I hope!). It also helps that only bits of the pattern peaks out from a mostly monochrome black outfit.

As for the shoes, they are the only animal print item I own.  I’m just not an animal print girl. But I saw these in December and fell in love with them. I love the peep-toe and baby heel and they fit like a glove. If you have a Dillards near you, check out their shoe department! They have amazing designer shoes and are constantly marking things down to 70% off.

On a final note, I just wanted to mention another style blog we’ve come across, for those of you looking to add more bookmarks to your browser. Glamour.com‘s writer Tracey Lomrantz keeps a fabulous blog called Slaves to Fashion, where I’ve found many an inspiring article or blogger being featured. She was also kind enough to feature our site last week, which we’re very excited about. Thanks, Tracey, and keep rockin’ that awesome column! S.

I absolutely adore this! I have been meaning to mix leopard and floral together, but haven’t done so yet. Also, congrats on the Slaves to Fashion Mention – very cool!

I think that the patterns work nicely together. And those shoes were a great find. I’m not usually a leopard print girl, but I really like them.
