End Notes:
Sometime during junior high, that most scarring of fashion years, someone told me that people of Asian descent shouldn’t wear yellow. Young and impressionable, I took this to heart and avoided yellow, yellow-orange, and orange through all of high school and most of college. And then, I realized this was silly. I love yellow. I love lemon yellow, canary yellow, butter yellow, and this rich saffron yellow-orange. I did not, however, realize until this week’s analogous color lesson, that I love yellow and yellow-orange together. I guess I’m a slow learner.
Unrelatedly, I finished off my paper early last night, so my husband and I slipped out to catch the Oscar-nominated animated shorts at the local independent movie house. If you have the opportunity to see them yourselves, please do. And I’ll give you fair warning. The entire theater was audibly sniffling about four minutes in to the Japanese short La Maison en Petits Cubes.
