Sources:

  • Chocolate brown sweater shrug – Target
  • Grey ruffle neckline top – Target
  • Black layering tank – H&M
  • Brown plaid pants – TJMaxx
  • Black velvet flats – Dillards
  • Silver bangle – from early high school days
  • Earrings – made by me

Endnotes:

As I said yesterday, I will really challenge myself with our neutrals module and not just wear them as a backdrop for a burst of color as I would otherwise. So today I am layering browns, black and grey.

I thought an all-neutrals outfit might make me feel boring, but rather than feeling bland, this look feels sophisticated and sleek. I quite like it and actually feel a little like I’m playing dress-up as A. in it. (She wears a lot of neutrals and looks so polished and elegant all the time in them!) I think I may be converting – I still like my colors but these neutrals have a trick or two up their sleeves too. -S.

    Danielle,

thank you! I love this shrug too, just got it on sale at Target :)

    Milly,

thanks! If you feel inspired by one of our color challenges and put something together adhering to it, we’d love to see a picture of it! We’re thinking of featuring something like that in the near future on the site. -S.
