CFP*: Pregnant Style Bloggers?

January 20th, 2009 § 16 comments

Since I began a baby bump and helped start this blog at roughly the same time, I’ve been fairly obsessed with trying to find stylish pregnant ladies to be my pregger fashion muses. With S. and A.’s help, I’ve found a few:

Of course Tricia, from Bits and Bobbins, Wardrobe Remix’s fearless leader. Then there’s the fashionable Spanish mama who continues to rock skinny jeans over at My Daily Style. And perhaps lesser known…

Juicy Juice, originally uploaded by freespiritjenny.

The spunky and colorful Freespiritjenny.

i will be that little glowing tree, originally uploaded by steen ink.

And how I wish the lovely SteenInk would have been able to post more of her wonderfully layered pregnancy looks.

But I’m wondering if there are more that I’m missing? There seems to be a preponderance of maternity fashion “advice” blogs — answering specific questions, pointing to celebrity styles, or recommending particular generic outfits — but I’d love to see how real, stylish ladies navigated the day-to-day of dressing a rapidly changing body. Do share.

* We get e-mails every single day with CFP’s or “Calls for Papers” from conferences on every topic imaginable soliciting 20 minute presentations from the academic masses. (Unfortunately, we still haven’t gotten one on academia and style.) When we do a CFP here, we’re asking for your contribution of internet-knowledge, no 10 page paper required. Just a few words or a link will do!

Allie at My Wardrobe Today recently had a baby and she blogged about her outfits all throughout her pregnancy on her blog, http://www.mywardrobetoday.com/
    Good luck!

  3. I recently started reading here, and this post just caught my eye. Can I pimp my own maternity remix set? I was a graduate teaching assistant during my last pregnancy, so I feel for you. I got a bit loud & crazy with my outfits and my major professor (apparel design prof.) commented that she’d never seen such a large maternity wardrobe before. I told her my secret was that quite a bit of it wasn’t actually maternity, just stuff that “worked” that I already had, i.e. vintage elastic waist skirts & dresses, tunics, etc. Usually it is the pants that throw a wrench in things once you get bigger.

Another remixer who had great style during her pregnancy was Midoritsuru…

There are certainly quite a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That may be a great point to bring up. I offer the ideas above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you convey up where an important factor will probably be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if finest practices have emerged round things like that, but I’m certain that your job is clearly identified as a good game. Both girls and boys feel the influence of just a moment’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
